Added by magataganm, 08 Apr 2013 This is my solo Concert (Pedal) Harp interpretation of this beautiful, symbolic and haunting melody by Robert Dukerich (http://musescore.com/user/22612/scores/38469) that laments the last song of a once vibrant Carousel. For me it brings to light a verse from a poem by Tanya Chua, "...Oh this love. Took a thousand rides. On a big spinning carousel. We took our final ride on the carousel...". Ironically, carousels have left generations of people with fond childhood memories. Between the antediluvian sound of the pipe organ and the beauty of mirrors reflecting the dancing lights and jewel tones beneath the ornate canopies, carousels inspire magic in the young and old alike. It is a sad reminder for modern times that these icons, once adored by children, litter the countryside in disrepair as a standing symbol of childhood lost. |
