"Alceste" is an opera written by the German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck in 1767. The Italian libretto was written by Ranieri de' Calzabigi and was inspired by the play "Alcestis" by Euripides. The Burgtheater in Vienna, Austria saw the premiere of this opera on the 26 December 1767.
