Added by alastair-lewis, 16 Dec 2013 "La Cucaracha" is a traditional folk song which originated in Spain. This type of song is known as a "corrido" in Spanish. The song became popular during the Mexican revolution which occurred from 1910-1920. The title in English means "The Cockroach". There have been many different versions of the lyrics, but the earliest lyrics concern a cockroach which is struggling to walk, due to it having lost one of its legs. In subsequent versions there were often hidden political meanings in the lyrics. The duration of this music is around 1 minute. The key signature is C major, and the music is of a quick tempo in 4/4.
