The anomalous temperament of the introduction is absolutely ingenious. An innovative master and wise man of Strings, "Lamento" crosses lines the ear cannot catch! Sublimely avant-garde, yet polished at every tone and interval, this pezzo concertante deserves radio rotation; influences are melted down to deep, minatory expressions. I urge anyone who can hear, to sit through the pangs of each hallucination. Extreme, yet softly menacing, the Adagio towards the middle of this masterpiece, provides breath. This near-perfect work comes from a genius who thoroughly understands music. Bis! Ineffable!
