Added by bernard-dewagtere, 23 Feb 2017 Vittorio Monti est né à Naples où il a étudié le violon et la composition au Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. Vers 1900 il devint le chef de l'Orchestre Lamoureux à Paris, pour lequel il a écrit plusieurs ballets et opérettes. Sa seule œuvre connue est Csárdás. Elle fut initialement composée pour violon, mandoline ou piano. Elle fut rapidement arrangée pour toutes sortes d'ensembles, cet air rappelant aux gens les vieilles danses hongroises avec la juxtaposition de passages rapides et lents.
