Added by st12, 24 Jul 2021 The Mass of the Nativity is a large scale work scored for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in B flat, Bassoon, 2 Trumpets in B flat, Timpani; String and Full choir (from which soloists may be drawn); the number of instruments deployed will depend on resources, size of orchestra and choir, available. Although overshadowed by Easter, Christmas is a very important Feast. It was that time when the Father gave us his Son as a gift to pay our debt of sin - it is a new beginning. The joyous aspect of this union of heaven with earth is, I hope, reflected in this Mass setting. The Lord's Prayer was an existing work, for Quartet and Baritone. I dedicate the work to Ivan Slezak who encouraged it, my thanks go to him. The work was completed in 2004, but I have since made extensive revision (June-July 2021). Also, instead of uploading a complete score of the work, I have uploaded each section separately (complete with respective vocal and instrumental parts). Stephen McManus, July 2021. |
