Con ogni probabilità fu scritto da John Wesley Work Jr. (!871-1925), il quale riadattò e riarrangiò un canto afro-americano (sempre del genere spiritual) dal titolo "When I Was a Seeker" (Quand'ero un cercatore). John Wesley Jr. pubblicò il brano per la prima volta nel 1907. | |||
