Added by edwardlein, 23 Mar 2022 Shores of Shadow (music ©2006 by E. Lein) are a cappella choral settings of four poems by the great American poet Carl Sandburg (1878-1967). The poems, published in 1916 and 1918, are in the public domain: 1. Under the Harvest Moon (1916) 2. Valley Song (1918) 3. At a Window (1916) 4. The Great Hunt (1916) [The recordings use an arrangement for string orchestra] The settings were composed in Jacksonville, Florida, during the spring of 2006. The title for the set originally was to have been 'Sandburg Chorales', in reference to their essentially chordal style. Instead, a title was drawn from the 3rd poem that reflects the thread of twilight and night that runs through the verses. The score may be freely downloaded and performed, but please credit and notify the composer while he is still living. Source / Web : | EDWARD LEIN composer: Shores of Shadow | |
