Added by nicholaslocke, 24 Jan 2022 I visited Townsville in the winter of 2018 and was completely astonished by the overall friendliness and sense of community shared by Its people, and the magnificent natural beauty of the area. From the enormous mountainous bushland of Hervey Range to the exotic tropical beaches of Magnetic Island, and always looming over the city; the majestic cliffs of Castle Hill. The whole area seemed to be a magical place with a quiet laid back beauty that was captivating and endearing, I found myself instantly enamoured with the locals and inspired by Its incredible geographical features. In this work, I wrote 3 contrasting pieces which convey the unique characteristics of each feature, as well as capturing the history and mysticism that I felt at these ancient places.
