| Added by anan, 15 May 2023 The Verses for Organ published in Turin in the series "L'Organista", edited by the publisher Giudici and Strada, are very short compositions conceived to accompany the recitation of the Old Testament verses inserted in the Catholic liturgy. Despite their ecclesiastical destination, they are of absolutely secular inspiration and it is probable that they did not represent something rigid and immutable, but rather thematic inventions at a basic level, almost work notes susceptible of developments not very different from those suggested by us in the "Hypothetical Sonata" and, here, in the small variations added to the individual pieces. Precisely in this regard we have thought of associating, on the title pages of the individual verses, some "working notes" of a completely different kind: that is to say, the drawings of a famous contemporary of Amadeo, also from Porto Maurizio who, much more of the musician, managed to meet success in his homeland. The circumstance that binds the two characters - in addition to the fact that they met in person, beyond any reasonable doubt - is that of having developed their training in their respective fields at the best Italian academies of the time (Amadeo at the school of Pacini in Lucca, Massabò at the Roman one of S.Luca) achieving an excellent level of technical training, albeit associated with a not as high degree of originality which, moreover, in the context in which they found themselves operating, would not have greatly benefited their careers. | |||
