The meaning of the mysterious phrase "Sator arepo tenet opera rotas", translating with "chariot" the term "arepo" (which is not Latin, but Celtic), is quite obvious, in spite of the cervellotic interpretations that have been proposed. "The Creator, with his work, makes turn the celestial spheres around the polar star [the small chariot]".
