Added by vegajuantxo, 19 Jul 2022 "Erregina eta saratsak" means in basque "the queen and the willows". These old melodies were played in the month of May in many towns in the Basque Country. They disguised a little girl as a queen and others as willows, and went asking for money or food. The last melody in ternary rhythm is for those who do not give anything. The celebration has to do with the beginning of spring and the emergence of nature. There are similar festivals in many towns in Europe. |
