It is the almost famous “Ciaccona in A Major” of Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, which for philological reasons we lowered of a semitone. The news found in the texts of music history, a decade after its discovery, is still scarce, even if this piece is now much appreciated by Baroque music lovers (not yet with the general public). What we have mentioned in the titles about origin and dating results from the site of a German publisher, and as such should be confirmed by not questionable sources, to comply with a proper research methodology.

I downloaded this score because I hope I can transpose it to play on my cello. I heard it played on the violin on youtube and it is beautiful. I love Shcmelzer's work. I hope to transpose his Unarium Fidium sonata too one day.
