Added by kheidtmann, 23 Feb 2018 ABRSM Grade 1 (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music,2019-2020) LCM Grade 1 (London College of Music) MTB Grade 1 (Music Teacher's Board) This Trumpet Menuet (including 5 variations) was composed and first published by Michel Corrette in “Les Amusemens du Parnasse, Méthode courte et facile pour apprendre à toucher le clavecin” (Book 4, no. 15,16). https://www.free-scores.com/sheetmusic?p=akWRYRjbaU In “Early English Sonatinas” from 1918 the editor Alec Rowley indicates that this piece is “from a collection of lessons compiled and composed by W. Duncombe”. Duncombe did not compose this menuet but arranged and used it in his lessons, so that Rowley made him the composer and thereafter generations of editiors copied this misattribution neglectfully. |
