He was born on 1 August 1851 in Brussels, where he completed his musical studies and worked as a composer and mandolinist, as you can read in his business cards. He’s the author of a theoretical-practical method for mandolin, published in Leipzig in 1900. From this period the most well-known piece is "Pourquoi pleurer?", for mandolin and piano, given to the prints in Hamburg in 1898.
