Belgian violinist and teacher. He was born at Huy, Belgium, became member of the military band at Metz, was engaged in teaching at Sedan, whence he made annual visits to Paris for study under the celebrated French violinist, Pierre Baillot, took up residence in Paris, 1822, and for a brief period was conductor of the amateur concerts at Vauxhall. In 1823 he obtained the post of solo violinist in the Royal Orchestra at Brussels, this post he occupied until 1860, at which time he retired on a pension.
