E flat major-The Concerto For Alto Saxophone And Orchestra is Alexander Glazunov’s last work; since its first performance in 1934 it has become part of the standard Saxophone repertoire. The sole surviving autograph manuscript is the hand-written dedication score given by Glazunov to Sigurd Raschèr (Raschèr was the founder and leader of the well-known and innovative Raschèr Saxophone Quartet).This score contains the original version of the work without the alterations which were made in the proofs to the orchestral score as well as the full version of the composer’s cadenza which was later shortened. The autograph manuscript also containssome performance markings by Raschèr.The correspondence between Raschèr and Glazunov documents the composer’s thoughts on the work and his recommendations about the size of the accompanying String Orchestra. for violin and piano-Vladimir Pogoyev's transcriptions for violin and piano of two episodes from Alexander Glasunov's ballet 'Raymonda' are among the most famous 'Raymonda' arrangements. The composer Pogoyev (1872-1941) belonged to the circle ofmusicians around the publisher M.P. Belaieff and was personally acquainted with Glasunov. The brilliant transcriptions of the 'Grand Adagio' and of the 'Waltz' are intended for concert performances but can also be used in musiclessons.

Glazunov's Symphony no. 8 the last the composer completed is a majestic achievement whose combination of talent imagination and contrapuntal mastery was destined to remain unsurpassed. The Dutch musicologist Alex van Amerongen was of the opinion that the symphony was the most striking and monumental work of a whole generation. Furthermore he believed that &ldquo this piece - and not the music of Reger - has the final word on the subject of chromaticism.
