Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976874 Composed by Monica Bergo. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Monica Bergo #3244129. Published by Monica Bergo (A0.976874). 2017 Holiday Contest EntryTHEATER If you want to transform your reality If you want another life The theater is here Choose the character What will you interpret Follow your script and you will not be wrong A blue curtain The lights are down And music begins An ox eye That will turn on The scene lights up Offstage, me Look out for my turn my legs tremble Increase the beat People in the audience Silent is And thet expects to live The story you will tell theyr And everything is possible I grab the moment I commit myself to the utmost There is rhythm, there is energy There is grief, there is joy Here everything is fake but there is truth And fate here, nothing can Because history already has its plot and its ending We will incarnate here Vices and virtues In the comedy you will lose You will breathe with us The magic that's here tonight Live in this atmosphere Trash and a bit surreal It will involve you With its cardboard trees, canvas palaces Paper skies, foam lakes Tears drawn on blood red cheeks Imperfect moons and sunshine that does not shine It's all a theater this my life I play more roles In prose or poetry We are all actors In this reality Browse your script It will surprise you Finished the show I bow for you Applause and music A moment and I already find my self The usual Monica I feel a bit Pierrot Between joy and tears But it went well and then tomorrow replies Live more lives for never die Sweet illusion that will cull me And it will accompany me Even out of this scene If I recite good ,you will know Unsuspecting sides of me I'll be nice O arrogant and bad A witch or a diva Heroes of a time gone Who will I ever be? and how Pirandello wrote I’m none and one hundred thousand I interpret myself And it's never good the first I'm not convincing in my dirty clothes And I change the script bugs Of my days a little shaken Absurd Theater It turns into a silent film And crying out loud In this desolate stage If you are looking for an identity An interruption of reality Write your script or improver Get on that stage and you'll be what you want .... Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041003 By Isadar. By Isadar. Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,New Age. Score. 9 pages. Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) #645734. Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) (A0.1041003). Contains:End Of The Line - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, The Journey (available soon on SheetMusicDirect and SheetMusicPlus) Sounds like: Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording Album & Songbook review by:Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com): Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book. Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album. The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording. A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players. Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier. None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands. My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line. Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more... Also available as sheet music in physical songbooks, digital downloads, as as software for Yamaha Disklavier player-pianos. For more information, visit his website at: https://www.isadar.com.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127867 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Chamber,Classical,Folk,Multicultural,World. Score. 9 pages. Philip Le Bas #728476. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127867). Incidental music composed for piano in four parts by Philip Le Bas to accompany the Japanese folk tale (ghost story) Yuki-Onna (Snow Woman). This work developed out of a cross-cultural project initiated at Morley College, London, in early 2019, aiming to create a melodrama for piano solo and spoken voice to be performed in northern Japan later in the year by young students of the piano. It is based on the ghost-story above, which is widely known in Japan. The tale was transcribed and published by Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) in 1904 as part of his book “Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Thingsâ€, a collection that has been highly influential in expressing popular Japanese culture over the past century. Synopsis of the tale of Yuki-Onna: Two wood-cutters, Mosaku and his apprentice Minokichi, encounter a terrible snow-storm and take shelter in an empty hut by a river. The storm gets worse and worse, but they both finally fall asleep. When Minokichi wakes, he sees a woman all in white bending over Mosaku breathing bright white smoke onto his face. She then approaches Minokichi. She is very beautiful, but her eyes make him afraid. After a while she says, “I intended to do the same to you as I did to the old man, but I feel pity for you because you are a pretty young man. If you ever tell anybody what you have seen, however, I will kill you too.†And she vanishes into the snow storm. It is then that Minokichi discovers Mosaku dead on the floor of the hut. Years later Minokichi meets a beautiful girl, who calls herself O-Yuki. He falls in love with her and they live together in his house, along with his mother, who fortunately takes a liking to her new “honourable daughter-in-law.†Over the years O-Yuki gives birth to ten children and the villagers all agree that she is a wonderful person. But she is somehow different from them, as she continues to look young and fresh, despite the passing years. Minokichi often thinks of telling O-Yuki about the events of years ago, and eventually, as he is gazing at her beauty one night, he can resist it no more. He begins to tell her about the snow storm and the terrifying snow-woman. To his horror O-Yuki becomes more and more angry, and she finally says: “It was me, it was me,… and I said I would kill you if you ever told anyone! But for these children asleep here, I would do so this very moment! You had better take very good care of them; for if ever they have reason to complain of you, I will treat you as you deserve!†As she screams at him her voice becomes thin, like the crying of the wind, and she melts into a bright white mist spiraling into the roof-beams. At that moment it starts to snow, but O-Yuki is never seen again.

Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1069664 Composed by Gary Noland. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Ragtime. Full Performance. Duration 892. Freeland Publications #3238281. Published by Freeland Publications (A0.1069664). Duration: 14'52 (1989). Computer-driven Yamaha Disklavier performance. One of my more famous pieces. Its historic premiere at Pacifica Radio (KPFA) in Berkeley on 4 October, 1991 to inaugurate their new facility is included in Nicolas Slonimsky's book Music Since 1900. It has been reviewed and written about extensively. Here is what some reviewers have said:4 OCTOBER 1991: KPFA radio in Berkeley, California, dedicates its newly constructed, two-story broadcast facility at 1929 Martin Luther King Jr. Way with a live satellite broadcast … works on the inaugual program, produced and narrated by KPFA Music director Charles Amirkhanian, included … Grande Rag Brilliant [sic] by Gary NOLAND, a 15-minute rag introducing KPFA’s new Yamaha Disklavier grand piano, featuring fugues, frozen grace-notes to produce tone clusters, and a lengthy passage in which the music modulates up and down a half-tone each measure (the turntable change of speed effect) …-Nicolas Slonimsky, Music Since 1900 ...remarkable stuff...-Max Morath, ragtime composer and pianist … smashing and extremely difficult piano rag, … which is not distracted by the modulation-per-minute insanity of this beautiful and disorienting music … an exceedingly difficult composition by Berkeley composer Gary Noland, … the Grande Rag Brillante, Op. 15, was written in a modified turn-of-the-Century style and has never been performed successfully by a human pianist. It features something Mr. Noland calls the 'record-player-turntable-change-of-speed-effect.' In certain sections, each successive measure modulates up a half step into the next key signature, providing a mind-bending spiraling of focus which is truly breathtaking … spectacular… -Charles Amirkhanian, Folio (KPFA program guide) ...The Impossible Rag...-Oakland Tribune ...perfectly simulates a piano roll mistracking and continually changing keys...-Dick Zimmerman, Rag Times ...masterpiece!...We recommend Mr. Noland's music for anybody who desires the witty and unexpected approach to the Ragtime idiom.-L. Ich hoffe, Ihr Weg wird leichter....-Ladislav Kupkovic, Czech-born composer residing in Germany Sort of like it ... electronicized ... ; then it becomes a real period piece, like Richard Taruskin’s theory about current HIP practitioners ...-William Bolcom, Pulitzer prize winning composer. ...Gary Noland's music is complex, technically daunting stuff....'Grande Rag Brillante'... seems to be meant as an excercise in psychedelic ragtime piano, full of extremely fast passages, confusing modulations, and bizzare dissonance....-Butch Thompson, The Mississippi Rag ...KPFA Music Director Charles Amirkhanian plans to use the new Disklavier.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835644 Composed by James R. Murray, Johannes Brahms, and William J. Kirkpatrick. Arranged by Renee Hyche McKee. Children,Christian,Christmas,Concert. Score. 4 pages. Renee H. McKee #5995123. Published by Renee H. McKee (A0.835644). I never get tired of looking at the manger scene during the holidays and thinking about the way God chose to bring Himself into the world. The amazing story of Jesus’s mercy and forgiveness began for many of us in the songs of Christmas; I think Away in a Manger is the most innocent and tender of them all. Two melodies have been written for this song; I have used both tunes here, along with a touch of a famous lullaby you are certain to recognize! The double bar lines show where each Away in a Manger melody begins, and each section could be used as a tiny piece of music itself. As an entire piece it is beautiful as a Christmas-time prelude, offertory or a holiday recital piece for an advanced intermediate to advanced student. The simple lines of the melodies take turns being played by right and left hands with one instance of a hand crossing. A few fingerings are suggested in the various accompaniment patterns, and pedaling is left up to your sensitive ear. Large hands are not necessary to play this piece; a tender touch will make it glow. Allow the ending to linger...it will satisfy you and your listeners with a sense of peace.

Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Edward Elgar (1857-1934). Arranged by Edward Elgar. Romantic Period, Funeral, Recital. Score. 8 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Edward Elgar composed his Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, popularly known as the Enigma Variations, between October 1898 and February 1899. It is an orchestral work comprising fourteen variations on an original theme.<br> <br> Elgar dedicated the work "to my friends pictured within", each variation being a musical sketch of one of his circle of close acquaintances (see musical cryptogram). Those portrayed include Elgar's wife Alice, his friend and publisher Augustus J. Jaeger and Elgar himself.<br> <br> In naming his theme "Enigma" Elgar posed a challenge which has generated much speculation but has never been conclusively answered. The Enigma is widely believed to involve a hidden melody.<br> <br> The name of the variation IX (NIMROD) refers to Augustus J. Jaeger, who was employed as music editor by the London publisher Novello & Co. He was a close friend of Elgar's, giving him useful advice but also severe criticism, something Elgar greatly appreciated. Elgar later related how Jaeger had encouraged him as an artist and had stimulated him to continue composing despite setbacks. Nimrod is described in the Old Testament as "a mighty hunter before the Lord", Jäger being German for hunter.<br> <br> In 1904 Elgar told Dora Penny ("Dorabella") that this variation is not really a portrait, but "the story of something that happened". Once, when Elgar had been very depressed and was about to give it all up and write no more music, Jaeger had visited him and encouraged him to continue composing. He referred to Ludwig van Beethoven, who had a lot of worries, but wrote more and more beautiful music. "And that is what you must do", Jaeger said, and he sang the theme of the second movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 Pathétique. Elgar disclosed to Dora that the opening bars of "Nimrod" were made to suggest that theme. "Can't you hear it at the beginning? Only a hint, not a quotation."<br> <br> This variation has become popular in its own right and is sometimes used at British funerals, memorial services, and other solemn occasions. It is always played at the Cenotaph, Whitehall in London at the National Service of Remembrance. A version was also played during the Hong Kong handover ceremony in 1997 and at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The “Nimrod” variation was the final orchestral composition (before the national anthem) played by the Greek National Orchestra in a televised June 2013 concert, before the 75-year-old Athenian ensemble was dissolved in the wake of severe government cutbacks.<br> <br> An adaptation of the piece appears at the ending of the 2017 film Dunkirk as part of the scoreEdward Elgar composed his Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, popularly known as the Enigma Variations, between October 1898 and February 1899.
