My arrangements there are cheaper and most of the revenue will go to the arranger (me) instead of sheet music plus.I love The Beach Boys. As a teenager, I was definitely exposed to a fair amount of their music for some reason. It's not always easy to transform this kind of music into an idiom that sounds good as instrumental chamber music, however, this is part of my quest to develop a broad range of popular music that I can play live with a small group on the instrument I love - the horn.This is great for university students and professionals. There are not a lot of great, challenging horn quartet arrangements out there, like this one is. Depending on which part you play, this one may require a solid high range and/or low one (although some alternate notes are suggested for those who wish to avoid the extremes). This arrangement helps fill a niche for small ensemble in that horn quartet music typically lacks repertoire in most contemporary and rock genres. I've tried to have the melody move around a bit so it's fun and interesting for everyone. Score, parts and cover arts included. I hope someone out there tries this arrangement and has fun!

This arrangement has two distinct parts: The first, lyrical part reproduces the original song, is a chance to really exploit that warm trombone sound. The second part is an up-tempo variation on the song and represents a stark contrast to the first part, requiring fast, tight playing. As usual in my arrangements, each player has the lead at some point. And the bass trombone will need to drive that rhythm in the second part in particular, keep the whole thing together. I am fortunate to be the only person given blanket gratis permission to set the words of Abraham Koplowicz to music. He composed a book of poetry, plays, and artwork while imprisoned in the Lodz Ghetto before perishing later in Auschwitz before he could become a Bar Mitzvah. The contents of that book are quite good, sophisticated for his age. Abraham's late half-brother, Eliezer Grynfeld—who found the book in the 1990s—and I eventually became good friends. The Pope once kissed Eliezer's hand. That is how highly regarded this collection is and, by some stroke of luck or fate, I have got exclusive musical rights to the book until it enters the public domain. In my settings of AT THE CLOTHING DEPARTMENT and TO GET A RATION, I combine the musical language of Schoenberg's A SURVIVOR FROM WARSAW very nearly with the instrumentation of Stravinsky's A SOLDIER'S TALE - only the percussion instruments differ. The musical language of these brief opera scenes is appropriately terse, very much in keeping with the oppressiveness of imprisonment. Please have a look and a listen. Irish music cast its spell early on in the many years I have performed as part of a duo of violin and recorder, so it was inevitable that I would be drawn to create new arrangements for this intimate combination of instruments. Bridget contains three traditional tunes selected from O’Neill’s Music of Ireland and arranged as duos by Dorothy van Joolen Barth. These three tunes are part of a larger anthology titled Maidens of Melody Volume Two, available separately as a download for those who would prefer to have the complete book. As an audio sample, Bridget McRory is provided here. These arrangements can be played on recorder and violin (which is how we play them), flute and violin, or two violins. If the upper part is played on recorder, the recorder player may switch between soprano, alto, and tenor recorders in accordance with the range and mood of each piece. We generally prefer the soprano recorder on the faster reels, jigs, and hornpipes and the tenor recorder (or sometimes the alto recorder) on the more lyrical pieces. In performing this music, we often devise new ornaments, in keeping with Celtic tradition where no two performances of a piece are ever identical. You will likewise add your own meaning to this evocative music. These pieces are delightful perform for Celtic festivals, St. Patrick's Day celebration, weddings, birthdays, and other theme events.
