Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1073968 By Michael Swedberg. By Terrence Niska. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Niska Music Publishing #678234. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1073968). The most Impressionistic of Opus 3, the cathedral in this instance is the forest rather than the sunken one from Debussy’s prelude. The canopy of the trees is the vaulted ceiling and the trunks serve as the columns. As one walks down the colonnade, the spaces between the trees serve as windows onto the magnificence of nature. From a musical standpoint, the thick, rich chords of the right hand create a feeling of majesty and awe broken by the melismatic figures of the wind through the boughs. Once again, it is of great importance to balance the chords to bring forth the melody.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1227903 By 101 String Orchestra. By Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 10 pages. Timothy Stapay #823903. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1227903). This arrangement of The Last Time I Saw Paris is written as played by piano artist, Liberace. It contains an introduction, by Liberace, using parts of the French song, Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy. The Last Time I Saw Paris is a song composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, published in 1940. It was sung in the 1941 film Lady Be Good by Ann Sothern.By December 1940, six versions of the song were on the charts, with Kate Smith having exclusive radio rights for the song for six weeks. The song catered to a wartime nostalgia for songs about European cities following the Second World War Battle of France (which brought Paris under Nazi control), with A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square also proving popular. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1941. This was Kern's second Academy Award for Best Original Song (following his success with The Way You Look Tonight in 1936), and Hammerstein's first. Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor. A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!Lyrics:(Verse)A lady known as ParisRomantic and charmingHas left her old companionsAnd faded from viewLonely men with lonely eyes are seeking her in vainThe streets are where they wereBut there's no sign of herShe has left the Seine(Chorus)The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayI heard the laughter of her heartIn every street cafeThe last time I saw ParisHеr trees were dressеd for springAnd lovers walked beneath those treesAnd birds had songs to singI dodged the same old taxicabsThat I had dodged for yearsThe chorus of their squeaking hornsWas music to my ears The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayNo matter how they change herI'll remember her that wayI'll think of happy hoursAnd people who shared themOld women selling flowersIn markets at dawn(Bridge)Children who applauded Punch and Judy in the parkAnd those who danced at night and kept our Paris brightTill the town went dark(Chorus)The last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayI heard the laughter of her heartIn every street cafeThe last time I saw ParisHer trees were dressed for springAnd lovers walked beneath those treesAnd birds had songs to sing I dodged the same old taxicabsThat I had dodged for yearsThe chorus of their squeaking hornsWas music to my earsThe last time I saw ParisHer heart was warm and gayNo matter how they change herI'll remember her that wayI'll think of happy hoursAnd people who shared themOld women selling flowersIn markets at dawn

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784656 Composed by John Hughes, arr. P.F. Tillen. Arranged by PFTMusic. Concert,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 2 pages. PFTMusic #3895739. Published by PFTMusic (A0.784656). Piano Prelude on CWM RHONDDA, most commonly known as the hymns, God of Grace and God of Glory, and Guide Me Ever, Great Jehovah. The setting is rather slow and thoughtful; Its stately, somber tone makes it suitable for worship during Lent, but also at other Sunday mornings, and even funeral services when a piece of quiet instrumental music is called for. It can also be a satisfying solo for the right intermediate to advanced piano student. Please check for more piano music, sacred and secular choral and vocal selections at pftmusic.com.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125796 By Michael Swedberg. By Traditional Spiritual. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726536. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125796). One of the more technically demanding preludes in this set, it is a definite workout for the right hand as it is nonstop triplets from beginning to end. Not only must the wrist remain loose, but the melody is contained in the right hand amidst the steady torrent of sixteenth note triplets. There is also a wonderful two measure hemiola figure where the meter seems to shift temporarily before returning to the established meter. The exuberance and excitement of the good news of Christ’s birth is the driving force behind this arrangement. Symphonic in its conception, the pianist needs to keep that in mind as they bring all the forces of the orchestra to bear. There are instances of brass chords, swirling string lines, singing woodwinds and thundering timpani, sometimes happening all at the same time. A tour de force and an excellent concert finale!

Even though I have been a big fan for many years, I was still blown away by Isadar’s live performance in my house concert series in July 2010. The man has magic fingers and an extraordinary piano touch that are perfectly suited to express his imaginative, distinctive, and emotionally powerful music.<br> <br> Isadar is also a singer/songwriter and an electronic musician who creates the music videos for much of his music, dramatizing the stories that inspired the songs. The title track conveys the freedom of an improvisation while weaving together a variety of upbeat themes. “The Man Who Broke My Heart” is energetic and in constant swirling motion - also very free and from deep within. “The Stairwell” is darker and much more mysterious, overflowing with Isadar’s intriguing accented rhythms and picturesque compositional style. My favorite track is the almost nine-minute “Letting Go,” a piece that intertwines a series of musical vignettes into a powerful, colorful musical collage. I love the way Isadar seamlessly goes from flowing and smooth to a bouncy jazz style to high drama without missing a beat. Great stuff! “En Face Du Miroir (Facing the Mirror)” is much lighter, with fingers dancing nimbly around the piano keyboard. The album closes with “Blood ... Thicker Than Water,” again a combination of changing themes that could well be a musical family portrait - different personalities working separately and as a unit, bound together by the unseen ties that keep families together through thick and thin.<br> <br> Isadar has created another piano masterpiece that should be more widely heard than his previous releases due to the success of Reconstructed. Very highly recommended!<br> <br> Isadar’s Red: Solo Piano Sheet Music Collection is a note-for-note transcription of all seven pieces from Isadar’s 2013 CD/download release by the same name. The music was transcribed by David Shenton (shentonmusic.com) with clear, concise notation that includes dynamics, pedaling and metronome settings.<br> <br> Isadar is an amazing pianist with a style all his own, so this isn’t a book that most pianists will be able to just sit down and play. It will take some work and attention to detail to get this music right, but it will be well worth the effort. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125799 By Michael Swedberg. By Jean Baptiste Calkin. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726539. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125799). I must admit that I was far more familiar with the 1956 setting of this poem as sung by Bing Crosby to music by Johnny Marks than I was to the one found in many hymnals. It was on several of the Christmas albums that would be played on the phonograph in our house during the holiday season. However, I chose to arrange the carol setting for this collection as it resonated more deeply with me and seemed to better capture the essence of the poem by Longfellow. He wrote it during the Civil War, on Christmas Day of 1863, and several of the verses make reference to the war. While I did not set any of the Civil War verses, there is an almost martial quality to the opening music and one can almost hear the brass choir ringing out in the first verse. With each subsequent verse, the rhythm of the right hand becomes quicker, moving from half notes to quarter note triplets to eighth notes and finally to eighth note triplets in the final verse. For the most part, the left hand maintains the steady beat of quarter notes, with the exception of the final verse where it begins to move in eighth notes setting up a two-against-three pattern between the hands. It is the most jubilant of the verses and feels like an explosion of sound as the bells ring out across all the land proclaiming God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men..

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.950926 Composed by Richard Storrs Willis. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #6466297. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.950926). What if Chopin had written a Christmas carol? It may have sounded something like this. There is a definite pastoral atmosphere to this arrangement, giving it the feeling of one of his Nocturnes. The gently flowing river of the left hand in the first section provides the support for the melody as it weaves its way in and out of the eighth notes of the right hand. The second verse takes a more chordal approach to the music with the tune being played in octaves while the off-beat rhythms provide a french horn-like accompaniment. Suddenly, there is a burst of energy as the chorus rings out in left hand octaves while the right hand gives the impression of a sudden gust of wind. There is a return to the chordal section and ultimately to the flowing river of the opening before a final statement of the melody (though somewhat altered) over a pedal point brings the prelude to a very quiet and peaceful close.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.996522 Composed by James Mayhew. Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 7 pages. James Mayhew #6234441. Published by James Mayhew (A0.996522). This is a set of 8 variations on a theme in C major, which begin as Classical sounding variations on the Mozartian theme, Nos 1 and 2 of which sound quite like short Czerny studies, before a variation of many repeated notes embedded in broken chord figurations, until a frantic ending disrupts the traditional Classical harmony with plenty of chromaticism and a slightly bluesy ending. The next variation is in 12/8 with a lilting feel, while the 6th variations is a C minor one which begins in a stately march feel before merging into freer, slightly jazzier material. Variation 7 returns to C major for a jolly outburst while the finale that is Variation 8 pours cascades of chords and gymnastical passages all over the place (including a black-key octave glissando in the right hand with a white-key gliss in the left at the same time), with an unexpected ending.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.966494 Composed by Dave Kenney. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 22 pages. Davekenneymusic #3444709. Published by davekenneymusic (A0.966494). This advanced work is the first of a collection of Fantasies or miniature tone poems for piano . The piece is in three sections and has numerous influences, some Impressionistic, some Romantic and it always is difficult to try and fuse these styles while keeping them congruent. The shimmering opening portrays a fairie being chased by something or someone, which seems to gets closer and closer to her. This section ends with a series of dominant seventh/nine chords and a rallentando. The slower middle segment introduces a new melody and is where she is able to hide and catch her breath which then segues (via an accelerando) leading to her discovery and the chase resumes until her escape at the very end (I hope). The challenging left hand is the main engine for the melody, which is stated in the first measure and is presented again and again in different keys and accompaniment styles. The arpeggiated figures are influences of Ravel and Liszt but I tried to imbue it with a sense of delicacy even in some of the more powerful moments. This produces a light, which I imagine would coruscate in the evening forest. This work is appropriate for all pianist. The duration is approximately 6 minutes and 35 seconds.copyright 2017 davekenneymusic

Songs of Praise #6273063. Published by Songs of Praise (A0.914315). This advanced piano arrangement features a hymn (Like a River Glorious) and an American Spiritual (We Shall Walk through the Valley in Peace) on the theme of God's Peace. Written in the style of Chopin's Nocturne in F Major, Op. 15, No. 1, it features a simple melodic line with a LH triplet bass. The middle section changes key and mood as the spiritual begins, with more intensity and motion. The opening section repeats and then continues to the final coda. The piece is suitable for piano solo, church prelude, or recital piece. It reflects on the reassuring peace of knowing God.Like a river glorious is God's perfect peace // Over all victorious in its bright increase;//Perfect, yet it floweth fuller ev'ry day;// Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way.//Stayed upon Jehovah, Hearts are fully blest // Finding as He promised, Perfect peace and rest. The spiritual gives the simple, but profound truth that Jesus will help us through the valleys of life.We shall walk through the valley in peace; we shall walk through the valley in peace.Refrain: If Jesus himself shall be our leader, we shall walk through the valley in peace.I am an independent composer, piano teacher, and church pianist. This is one of many arrangements I have written for church. I would love to hear your feedback on my arrangements!

Piano Solo - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Sigismond Thalberg (1812-1871). Arranged by Editions Melodia. Romantic Period. 10 pages. Published by James Keenan
Originally a poem written by Thomas Moore in 1805, "The Last Rose of Summer" is based upon the Irish traditional tune of "Aislean an Oigfear", or "The Young Man's Dream." Sigismond Thalberg was one of the most famous and most successful piano composers of the 19th century. During the 1830s and the 1840s his style was a major force in European piano-playing.[57] He was greatly in fashion and was imitated by others.[58] In 1852, Wilhelm von Lenz wrote: 'The piano playing of the present day, to tell the truth, consists only of Thalberg simple, Thalberg amended, and Thalberg exaggerated; scratch what is written for the piano, and you will find Thalberg.' Ten years later, in 1862, a London correspondent of the Revue et gazette musicale wrote: 'Nobody in fact has been so much imitated; his manner has been parodied, exaggerated, twisted, tortured, and it may have happened more than once to all of us to curse this Thalbergian school'. Expressions like "exaggerated", "twisted" and "tortured" indicate that some contemporaries were starting to feel jaded of his style. It was at this time when Thalberg's career as composer and as virtuoso came to an end. In the late 19th century, Thalberg's fame had come to depend on his association with a single piano technique, the 'three-hand effect'. Carl Friedrich Weitzmann, in his Geschichte des Klavierspiels (1879), wrote about this. 'His bravura pieces, fantasies on melodies from Rossini's Mosè and La donna del lago, on motifs from Bellini's Norma and on Russian folk-songs, became extraordinarily popular through his own, brilliant execution; however, they treat their subjects always in one and the same way, [namely] ... to let the tones of a melody be played in the medium octave of the keyboard now by the thumb of the right, now of the left hand, while the rest of the fingers are executing arpeggios filling the whole range of the keyboard.'Originally a poem written by Thomas Moore in 1805, "The Last Rose of Summer" is based upon the Irish traditional tune of "Aislean an Oigfear", or "The Young Man's Dream."

Published by TJHoltMusic (A0.1021631). Tarantella for the Boys, Op. 24 was written for solo piano and is dedicated to my nephews Braxton, Brayden, and Bryson. The overall mood is reminiscent of their energetic personalities with exception of the Bryson, the youngest nephew, who is under a year old at the time of composing this piece; the others are 2 and 4 years old respectively. The form of this piece is a rondo and one motive represents each of the boys with each motive becoming a little more subdued. On the other hand, the initial motive is the conglomerate of all three of their personalities, which returns often throughout the piece. At the end of the piece, the energy reaches a point where it is almost out of control, even clumsy, and ends with my middle nephew Brayden face-planting on the ground due to his clumsiness.Composed by Tyler J. Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 12 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #3098321. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818235). Beneath the Cross of Jesus ♫ Original piano arrangement by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Based on the public domain hymn by Elizabeth C. Clephane 1830–1869 (lyrics) and Frederick Charles Maker 1844–1927 (melody) ♫ In preparing to compose the arrangement I asked myself “What would be the opposite of “Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand.†How could I picture that? The opposite of firm footing, stability, taking a stand is vacillating between ideas or chasing numerous ideas. ♫ I pictured the wind scattering leaves and debris, but failing to budge heavy objects, anchored to the ground. ♫ Our culture bids us chase after status, power, money, pleasure, thrills … The problem, of course is that the shelf life of the satisfaction that these things brings is very short. Chasing after status, power, money, pleasure, thrills, etc. is like is like chasing the wind. ♫ Portraying chasing the wind allowed me to use some contemporary classical composition techniques such as polymeter, polytonality, and deliberate dissonance. The first theme suggests the futility and inevitable frustration of chasing the wind. The score opens up to the beauty of a life grounded on the cross of Jesus Christ. ♫ music © 2017 (copyright registered in ‘I See Your Glory’ collection) ♫ recording ℗ 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ performed by the composer ♫ This .pdf file includes 2 files: 1) Letter size piano score 2) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet, 4) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet. ♫ (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335536 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Score. 19 pages. Juan Maria Solare #921371. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1335536). Hommage to Ursula is a piano piece in memory of Ursula Görsch (1932-2023). The piece is based on the six sounding letters of her last name (GERSCH, where the O is omitted, the R represents RE - the D note in Spanish, Italian, or Turkish - and the S represents the E flat, 'Es' in German), as well as on the remaining six notes of the total chromatic scale (C#, F, F#, Ab, A, B). Both Pitch Class Sets are identical from an intervallic perspective - transposed by a tritone. Such coincidences confirm to me that I am on the right path, at least musically. The reference to Turkey is not coincidental, as Ursula taught in Istanbul for many years. The initial texture of the piece - a kind of toccata with many repeated notes - is a purely musical homage to Ursula: she used this texture in some passages of her compositions. Besides that, this piece contains no direct quotation from Ursula's music. The work Hommage an Ursula is based on a series of 12 notes. The original version (Prime) and the inverted version (Inversed) alternate. From these 24 versions of the series, 24 sections result. I add a final section based on the original series ('Das Ende im Anfange'*); thus, there are 25 sections. To order the 5 motivic elements, I generate a Latin square. The 5 elements do not rotate, but, in each of the 5 main sections, the initial motive is always the same (A), and the order of the other four (BCDE) changes, permutating according to the following Latin square:A BCDEA CEBDA DBECA EDCBA BCDEThis work can then be considered as a derivation of the 'theme and variations' structure, with the peculiarity that there are five sub-themes that are rearranged in each of the variations. This piece lasts about 11 minutes. The premiere, performed by the composer (that is, by myself), took place on November 26, 2023, at the Konzertsaal of the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, during the concert 'Gedenkkonzert Ursula Görsch und Harald Kruse', as part of the 73rd Hausmusikwoche, organized by the DTKV (German Association of Sound Artists) in cooperation with the ABK (Circle of Composers in Bremen). This is not an easy piece to listen to. It is absolutely consistent but perhaps monotonous. During the premiere, the yawns of someone in the audience prompted me to briefly interrupt the performance to inform them that the end was near. After the concert, one of the organizers suggested to me that the piece was too 'anstrengend' (demanding, exhausting). It is up to the gentle pianists to risk experiencing the same as me.* 'Das Ende im Anfange' reads the legend that can be read in the circle of tonalities reproduced by Johann Friedrich Michael Wiedeburg in his treatise Der sich selbst informirende Clavierspieler (Leipzig and Halle, 1765-1775, Verlag der Buchhandlung des Waisenhauses).Juan MarÃa SolareBremen, September & December 2023.

Transcribed note-for-note by David Shenton of ShentonMusic.com (I proofed about half of the book, so I can attest to how accurate it is!), it is up to you to make the music sound as close to the CD as you want or to interpret the music and make your own statements with it.<br> <br> One thing that really stands out about this collection is how much FUN it is to play. The rhythms are interesting and catchy, and the mood in several of the songs is playful and upbeat. This is especially true with the title song, “Throwing the Dice,” “Where the Wild Things Are,” and “Feu Follet (the ‘spook’ light).” “Waiting,” “Love Chaconne,” and “Uncertainty” are slower, more introspective, and a bit moody, making this a sheet music collection that contains a variety of moods and styles. The only piece missing from the book is Liz Story’s “Wedding Rain,” but the sheet music for that song is available in some of Ms. Story’s own collections.<br> <br> Early-advanced players should have no trouble with this music. The CD was one of my favorites for the year when I reviewed it for the print version of “Wind and Wire” magazine, so I was really looking forward to the sheet music! The timing on some of the songs is a little bit tricky, but if you count it as you are learning it, it will fall into place.<br> <br> If you haven’t heard the CD, check it out, too! This book is available here from SMP, isadar.com and amazon.com. Highly recommended!<br> <br> Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more...<br> <br> Also available as sheet music in physical songbooks, digital downloads, as well as software for Yamaha Disklavier player-pianos.<br> <br> For more information, visit his website at: http://www.isadar.com

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.744629 By Rachel Platten. By Dave Bassett and Rachel Platten. Arranged by Elena Fortin. Pop. Score. 5 pages. Elena Fortin #6063897. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744629). Every year, I post arrangements and videos of songs that I consider to be important either in the way they touch listeners, in how they are used, or iif they have stood the test of time. This arrangement is my first one for the 2020-2021 school year. And what a year it has been! With the global pandemic, many are struggling with physical illness or health challenges, personal trial, loss, or life's difficulties. Like many others, in these challenging times, I turn to music. ...like a small boat...sending big waves into motion Fight Song, written by Rachel Platten and Davve Bassett, has become an anthem of faith and belief for any person that is going through a challenge and brings comfort to many. The song was recorded in 2014 and won iHeartRadio's Music Award for Best Lyrics. When I pick songs to arrange, they are often ones that play over and over in my brain. I've been working on this one for several weeks. My arrangement is for the early advanced player. The arrangement starts quite simply but builds and builds into powerful repetitions of the chorus with arpeggios in the left hand and in the right hand and lots of fun crashing chords. It makes use of the powerfull bass end of the piano too! I hope that you enjoy it! If you like this sheet music please check out my other arrangements at SheetMusicPlus.
