Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.814482 By Alan R. Thompson. By Alan R. Thompson. Arranged by Alan R. Thompson. Blues,Classical,Instructional,Jazz,Multicultural,World. Score. 16 pages. Alan R Thompson #421393. Published by Alan R Thompson (A0.814482). The C-TONIC ONLY version of Thompson's Structured Guide: Scales, Modes and Associated Chords - represents an invitation for you to explore part of the vast universe of melodic and harmonic musical options. This Structured Guide will provide a foundation for improvisation sessions, building blocks for the creation of original music, be helpful in developing technical proficiency in your instrument of choice, improve your sight-reading skills and help you better develop an ear for music. Though here only C-Tonic Scales, Modes and Associated Chords are listed, the complete version of this book (available separately at https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/thompson-s-structured-guide-scales-modes-and-associated-chords-complete-version-digital-sheet-music/22266897) lists in standard sheet music notation over 50 scales and over 50 chords in each of the 12 Tonic/Tonal Centers (C thru B) and in all Key Signatures in Western Music. Each Tonic/Tonal Center is 16 pages of sheet music. The Audio Preview covers the 16 pages of C-Tonic/Tonal Center (trumpet over piano used). Together with the exercises in the Appendices the entire book (sold separately) is 316 pages long. Summary of Scales & Modes Covered: Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Melodic Minor Ascending/Natural Minor Descending, Whole-Tone, Octatonic Diminished & Octatonic Dominant Scales, numerous Bebop Scales with variations, numerous Pentatonic & Blues Scales with variations, Chromatic Scale, Lydian Diminished/Lydian b3 Scale, miscellaneous Pentatonic Major Modes & Japanese & Rock Pentatonic Style Scales, and the Augmented and Arabian Scales. There is a 50+ Chords Reference section (basic triads up to 13th chords). The entire book is in essence a series of practice exercises covering most every conceivable scale & associated chord combination used in the vast majority of music. Additionally, there are basic foundational exercises located in the Appendices A thru L. NOTE: Only SHEET MUSTIC is available here. However, a FREE PDF version of the Cover Page, Table of Contents, Introduction & Instructions is available for the entire book. Contact the author at alanrt63@gmail.com to request this if you desire.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1216197 By Brian Golden. By Brian Golden. Arranged by Brian Golden. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Brian Golden #812808. Published by Brian Golden (A0.1216197). Prelude 12 in Bb Minor Dorian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden  The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Bach and Frederic Chopin, whose works stand as essential repertoire for any student of the piano.  Using Bach’s and Chopin’s examples, my goal was to compose in all twenty-four keys, yet offer my own variation on the progression of key signatures – Bach’s being a pattern of major to parallel minor progressing chromatically through all keys, and Chopin’s a pattern of major to relative minor keys progressing clockwise through the circle of fifths.  In order to expand my harmonic and melodic possibilities, I have included the modal keys rather than only the major and harmonic minor keys, and have chosen to work counterclockwise through the circle of fifths, which is a more natural harmonic progression.  Therefore, all major preludes resolve from one to another V-I, as well as do all the minor preludes.  While there are seven modal scales, I decided to leave out the locrian modes for the following reasons.  First, due to the diminished fifth, the locrian mode cannot be thought of as either major nor minor.  Second, the locrian mode did not have a relative key to pair with, since there were no other keys with the identical characteristic notes.  In creating the key architecture, I determined that there was only one solution to pairing major and relative minor scales based on a shared parent key and characteristic note - ionian/aolian, mixolydian/phrygian and lydian/dorian.  This specific order of modal scales is the only order that would enable composing in all twelve key signatures.  Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.YouTube Link https://youtu.be/xb4E0I-vJek.

Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.YouTube.

Recorded as a 56-minute improvisation on 12/25/02, the music is thoughtful, somber, and quite elegant. There are actually thirteen pieces on the CD, but they segue into each other, making it difficult to tell where one song ends and another begins. This is very definitely NOT a problem, as the album unfolds naturally and organically, asking questions, looking inward, and expressing shock and grief. However, this is not music about only despair or rage. I also hear hope and determination as well as quiet reverence - the strange mix of emotions we all felt during those dark days. Titles include From Cradle to Coffin, Bravery, Numb, New York Skyline, and Truth. Isadar has a wonderful way of wearing his heart on his musical sleeve, pouring deep emotion and heartfelt expression into his music. The music was recorded in one take, but rather than meandering all over the place, Isadar used recurring themes that make the work cohesive and consistent enough to hold together even after many listens. This is a very strong and passionate work, but it was recorded with a rather quiet voice which allows it to be very comfortable and soothing background music as well as evocative solo piano music for concentrated and focused listening. The Purple Heart Sheet Music Collection is a note-for-note solo piano transcription of Isadar’s 2003 memorial CD by the same name (transcribed by David Shenton). The recording and book are a tribute to those who died in the attacks of 9/11/2001. The music was recorded in one take and although there are thirteen titles, the pieces segue into each other, creating a seamless 56-minute improvisation. The book indicates where the various pieces begin and end, but can also be played as one long piece. Although the theme of the music is very somber and bleak, the music covers the broad range of emotions we all felt during that period - anger, sadness, hope, determination, resolve, fear, grief, etc. Although the recording is an improvisation, Isadar incorporates a recurring theme that holds the work together as a single entity. Some pieces are very slow while others are lively and even fast. All thirteen pieces are in C minor/Eb major, but the variety of moods and tempos keep the music evolving without becoming repetitious. When the recurring theme pops up, it’s like seeing an old friend! The difficulty in playing someone’s improvisation is that the creation of the music was spontaneous and free-flowing. It isn’t easy to read an improvisation and give the music that quality of freedom. Less advanced pianists might find this frustrating. The time signatures change frequently, but a competent pianist will have no trouble with that. As I was playing this book, I sensed that I was looking directly into Isadar’s heart and feeling what he was feeling as the music was being born - a very powerful experience! Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, featuring today's biggest names in solo piano music.

Instrumental Solo,Piano and Keyboard - Level 5 - Interactive Download SKU: A0.1281392 Composed by Alta Mihartescu. This edition: Interactive Download. Classical. Individual part. 18 pages. Duration 127. Alta Mihartescu #48bYy1p4UyCAz5nZym0MPG. Published by Alta Mihartescu (A0.1281392). Key: C major.Eddies of Time is a captivating contemporary piano piece that defies traditional musical boundaries. Composed using 20th-century techniques, it eschews conventional meter, offering a fluid and unanchored exploration of time and space. The title itself, Eddies of Time, evokes images of swirling currents and ceaseless motion. This imagery is masterfully translated into sound, as the piece flows and undulates without the constraints of a fixed rhythmic structure. The absence of meter allows for a more organic and intuitive connection between the performer and the music, creating a unique and immersive listening experience. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde composers of the 20th century, the piece employs extended piano techniques, such as inside-the-piano playing, unconventional fingerings, and the use of various objects to alter the instrument's timbre. These techniques contribute to a rich and complex sonic palette that challenges traditional notions of melody and harmony. The structure of Eddies of Time is equally unconventional, with sections that ebb and flow, mirroring the natural movement of water. Themes are introduced, then reappear in altered forms, creating a sense of continuity and transformation. The composer's use of dissonance and atonality adds to the piece's modern character, providing tension and release in unexpected ways. Performing Eddies of Time requires not only technical prowess but also a deep understanding of the emotional and philosophical underpinnings of the work. The pianist must navigate the score with sensitivity and intuition, allowing the music to unfold naturally, like the eddying currents of a river. In Eddies of Time, the listener is invited to embark on a musical journey that transcends conventional form and meter. It's a piece that resonates with the restless spirit of the 20th century, reflecting a world in constant flux and a timeless fascination with the mysteries of existence.
