Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1388556). Program Notes: The fact that the text for this work even exists is a miracle. It was written by Abraham (Abramek) Koplowicz, a Jewish boy who was exterminated by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Abramek was born in 1930 in Lodz, Poland, and died 1944 in that country's infamous concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. He wrote this poem during the time that his family was trapped in the Lodz ghetto. This poem was not found until 1983 when Eliezer (Lolek) Grynfeld, the poet's half-brother, discovered it among their late father's belongings. Choristers who sing this work will be transported on a magical flight around the world through time and space along with their audiences. â??A Dream (Marzenie)When I am twenty years of age,I will burst forth from this cageAnd begin to see our splendid EarthFor the first time since my birth! In my motorized bird Iâ??ll soar so highAbove the world, up in the sky,Over rivers and the seas, With such stupefying ease,With my brother wind and sister cloud, Iâ??llMarvel at the Euphrates and the Nile; The goddess Isis ruled the land that linksThe Pyramids and the massive Sphynx.I will glide above Niagara Falls,And sunbathe where the Sahara calls; If I want to escape the scorching heat,I will fly up north to an Arctic retreat.I will top the cloudy peaks of Tibetan fameAnd survey the fabled land whence the Magi came. From the Island of KangaroosIâ??ll take my time and cruiseTo the ruins of Pompeii      At the edge of Naples Bay,Iâ??ll continue to the Holy Land, then seekThe home of Homer, the celebrated Greek.More and more astonished will I growAt the beauty of the Earth below. In all my travelling Iâ??ll be twinnedWith my siblings, cloud and wind.â??Abraham (â??Abramekâ?) Published by Stephen Lines (A0.957758). From below, uncertain rustlings can be discerned as creatures hairy, smooth or scaled begin to awaken from their long winter hibernation. But the last of the great winter storms approaches so they lie abed a little while longer. Then, at last watery sunshine brings warmth and the bleary eyed creatures begin to emerge - anticipating the pleasures of their annual renewal of life. There follows a bachanalia - then peace reigns.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1272505 By Aere Greenway. By Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Aere Greenway. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Aere R Greenway #864730. Published by Aere R Greenway (A0.1272505). As a life-long fan of the music of Brahms, I have wished there were more than his four symphonies to enjoy. Â So I set about orchestrating his sonata for piano, opus 5, as a symphony. Â I doing so, I've seen many things in his piano music, that suggest he was thinking orchestrally. Â And this is a composition from his youth (1854). Â In fact, I have been repeatedly amazed at how many simultaneous, independent parts, he has put into a piano solo. Â I haven't needed to create anything. Â It's all Brahms, coming through. Â Perhaps, if Brahms weren't so overwhelmed by the genius of Beethoven, who came before, he might have made this his first symphony. Â And you get to hear its third movement now. Â As with the tradition of Beethoven, the 3rd movement is a scherzo. Â You can think of it (at least in the beginning, and end), as the waltz of the gargoyles. Â Enjoy!Brahms has long been a staple of concert-going audiences, and with this piece, you can perform a new symphony of Brahms, created from his piano sonata in F-minor, orchestrated into a symphony by Aere.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031686 Composed by Austin Wintory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Austin Wintory #3512243. Published by Austin Wintory (A0.1031686). EP!C!!! is an overture-sized orchestral work, originally commissioned by the West Michigan Symphony in 2016. It is intended as a higher energy opener or Act 1 closer. Program notes:Entirely by mistake, EP!C!!! is study in conflict. The piece began with a simple premise: compose a work which teases some of the pervasive clichés of today’s musical landscape (particularly the Hollywood or so-called media music scenes). Those clichés are primarily two gestures: 1) a progression of chords, often called the Chords of Destiny (consisting of i – VI – III – VIII) and 2) an endlessly repeating minor third ostinato. The conflict emerged internally when, after multiple false starts, I would quickly start to hate the piece because it felt like the clichés were being presented whole cloth, without the slightest sense of irony. I became deeply paranoid that the music wasn’t in on its own joke. When I would reverse course, it felt condescending, as though it were declaring from some erudite ivory tower that it was above those gestures. The trouble particularly with the latter is that clichés become so for a reason; something genuinely compelling becomes so ubiquitous that it loses some of the freshness, but that doesn’t erase what initially made it compelling. So the piece needed to somehow make fun of the fact that these gestures are cliché, while not dismissing their intrinsic value. And indeed, to celebrate that value! It took a long time to find my place between those two extremes, and ultimately I think the music that emerged is actually the conflict itself manifest. The two gestures are this constant presence, almost like a seductive temptation, that are initially regarded as distractions, but eventually become the music’s core. It’s as though the music finally decided to just relent and find something to truly love and celebrate within these overwrought ideas, haters be damned. However, for the sake of total clarity of intention, I couldn’t resist some on-the-nose tongue-in-cheek. The little cameo of Haydn’s lulling 94th Symphony 2nd movement tune is my way of saying you think classical music is epic??? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SH*T!!! before inevitably popping open a Mountain Dew and snowboarding into an avalanche.- Austin Wintory, October 21, 2016

Full Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465707 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. Arranged by Stanley M Hoffman. 21st Century,Classical,Patriotic. 136 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #1044317. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1465707). Based on one of only several poems written by my mother, Jewish Holocaust survivor Rita Hoffman of blessed memory (1927–2018), Only from Blood Does Freedom Grow echoes the words of Hatikvah (The Hope), the national anthem of Israel. I have to believe that she wrote this poem around 1948 because of how it is worded. I of course knew the source of inspiration for this poem when I reread it not long ago—something I had not done since the 1990s—but its having been inspired by Hatikvah was really driven home to me by a Facebook comment. That comment inspired me to compose a piece in which the opening and closing sections are based on the opening melody of Hatikvah, but in which the middle section is newly composed. “Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy, and it honors the sword of freedom.” —John F. KennedyMy mother’s brief memoirs are housed at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn502129—Stanley M. Hoffman, 25 June 2024—Only from Blood Does Freedom Grow For so many years a voice sounded in Jewish hearts saying,“We want to have a home, we want to have a life again.”Enough blood has already streamed through rivers, the blood shed by our brothers *[and sisters],they, who for freedom of strangers and nation died. Now, the dream we dreamt for a long time has been awakened in us.We want to fight for our state, our country. The moment that we have been waiting for and been praying fortwo thousand years has brought us a spark of hope.We must not despair, for we are nevertheless Jews.We must and must want to persevere.A time will come which itself will become a symbol of our tragedy, and which will remain forever in our hearts -a burning flame, and a joyful feast. —Rita Hoffman (1927–2018)Words: © Copyright 1948 by The Estate of Rita Hoffman. All rights reserved. Meng-Hsuan Gloria Lin #5038191. Published by Meng-Hsuan Gloria Lin (A0.925405). This is a symphonic poem I composed about the long-lost continent Greater Adria, which broke off from Northern Africa about 240 million years ago and began slipping beneath southern Europe about 100 million years ago. It’s so poignant and beautiful that after hundreds millions of years those prehistoric lives all disappeared the lost-continent which they lived on finally had been discovered . So that I created this symphonic poem.

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008374 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 20th Century. Score and parts. 24 pages. Arkady Leytush #4849775. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008374). Estampes (Engravings) is the title of the triptych of three pieces which Debussy put together in 1903. The first complete performance was given on 9 January 1904 in the Salle Erard, Paris, by the young Spanish pianist Ricardo Viñes, who was already emerging as the prime interpreter of the new French music of Debussy and Ravel. The first two pieces were completed in 1903, but the third derives from an earlier group of pieces from 1894, collectively titled Images, which remained unpublished until 60 years after Debussy’s death, when they were printed as Images (oubliées). Estampes marks an expansion of Debussy’s keyboard style: he was apparently spurred to fuse neo-Lisztian technique with a sensitive, impressionistic pictorial impulse under the impact of discovering Ravel’s Jeux d’eau, published in 1902. The opening movement, ‘Pagodes’, is Debussy’s first pianistic evocation of the Orient and is essentially a fixed contemplation of its object, as in a Chinese print. This static impression is partly caused by Debussy’s use of long pedal-points, partly by his almost constant preoccupation with pentatonic melodies which subvert the sense of harmonic movement. He uses such pentatonic fragments in many different ways: in delicate arabesques, in two-part counterpoint, in canon, harmonized in fourths and fifths and as an underpinning for pattering, gamelan-like ostinato writing. Altogether the piece reflects the decisive impression made on him by hearing Javanese and Cambodian musicians at the 1889 Paris Exposition, which he had striven for years to incorporate effectively in music. In its final bars the music begins to dissolve into elaborate filigree.Just as ‘Pagodes’ was his first Oriental piece, so ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ was the first of Debussy’s evocations of Spain-that preternatural embodiment of an ‘imaginary Andalusia’ which would inspire Manuel de Falla, the native Spaniard, to go back to his country and create a true modern Spanish music based on Debussyan principles. Debussy’s personal acquaintance with Spain was virtually non-existent (he had spent a day just over the border at San Sebastian) and it is possible that one model for the piece was Ravel’s Habanera. Yet he wrote of this piece (to his friend Pierre Louÿs, to whom it was dedicated), ‘if this isn’t the music they play in Granada, so much the worse for Granada!’-and there is no debate about the absolute authenticity of Debussy’s use of Spanish idioms here. Falla himself pronounced it ‘characteristically Spanish in every detail’. ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ is founded on an ostinato that echoes the rhythm of the habanera and is present almost throughout. Beginning and ending in almost complete silence, this dark nocturne of warm summer nights builds powerfully to its climaxes. The melodic material ranges from a doleful Moorish chant with a distinctly oriental character to a stamping, vivacious dance-measure, taking in brief suggestions of guitar strumming and perfumed Impressionist haze. There is even a hint of castanets near the end. The piece fades out in a coda that seems to distil all the melancholy of the Moorish theme and a last few distant chords of the guitar. ‘Jardins sous la pluie’ is based on the children’s song ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’ (We shan’t go to the woods): its original 1894 form was in fact entitled Quelques aspects de ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’. The two versions are really two distinct treatments of the same set of ideas, but in ‘Jardins sous la pluie’ Estampes the earlier piece has been entirely rethought. The whole conception is more impressionistic, and subtilized. The teeming semiquaver motion is more all-pervasive, the tunes (for Debussy has added a second children’s song for treatment, ‘Do, do, l’enfant do’) more elusive and tinged sometimes with melancholy or nostalgia. The ending of the piece is entirely new. What it loses, perha.

Laurent Lemmens #814129. Published by Laurent Lemmens (A0.1219766). Are you searching for a symphonic work for your next concert? What better way to captivate your audience than with a beautiful rendition of a beloved film classic? This symphonic arrangement of the timeless Moon River from the blockbuster 'Breakfast At Tiffany's', composed by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer, is the perfect addition to your orchestra's repertoire. It embodies the tranquil character of the song through intimate woodwind solos, and the feelings of longing and nostalgia culminate in intense tutti passages. Its calmer sections with harp and soft melodic percussion resemble a music box-like atmosphere, taking the listener on a gentle journey along the moonlit river. The instrumentation for this piece is as follows: 1 Piccolo, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 1 Cor Anglais, 2 Clarinets in Bb, 1 Bass Clarinet in Bb, 2 Bassoons, 4 Horns in F, 3 Trumpets in Bb, 2 Trombones, 1 Bass Trombone, 1 Tuba, 1 Timpani, 1 Cymbals, 1 Vibraphone, 1 Celesta, 1 Harp, 8 Violin I, 8 Violin II, 6 Violas, 6 Celli, 4 Double Basses. If you'd like to contact the arranger, you can do so via laurent.lemmens@plagal.eu.

Christmas,Holiday,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. 95 pages. Www.studio-orchestrations.com #1047742. Published by www.studio-orchestrations.com (A0.1470001). Merry Christmas, Darling is a Christmas song by the Carpenters (music by Richard Carpenter, lyrics by Frank Pooler), and originally recorded in 1970. It received a number of remixes, most notably in 1978 in a newly recorded vocal version by Karen Carpenter, which was done at her request. Richard Carpenter himself called the original recording one of his sister's very best. Hearing this song today with knowing ears and the knowledge of Karen Carepenter's mental health problems it makes a beautiful, sentimental song all the more bitter sweet and precious. It is a perfect little gem.In this orchestration - in the original Karen Carpenter key - there is never any heavy brass apart from 4 horns used very sparingly, and the optional original alto saxophone solo is also cued (as an alternative) for a Trumpet or Flugel horn if a sax is not available. A guitar in this texture is always desirable but can be traded off as long as there is bass guitar, light kit and percussion to support the soupy lush string lines. The backing vocals are a significant part of the song's haunting beauty and are also highly desirable however their harmony lines are covered by alternative wind instrument figures so this can be performed with or without backing vocals.INSTRUMENTATION:2 FlutesOboeCor Anglais2 Clarinets2 Bassoons4 HornsAlto Saxophone solo (Can be played on alt. This song is just one of so many fantastic powerful female vocalist songs in the Broadway and West End smash hit musical WICKED composed by Stephen Schwartz, a clever prequel story to The Wizard of Oz. The song encapsulates the excitement of the principal character Elphaba (who later we find infamously and misleadingly becomes the Wicked Witch of the West) at the prospect - as a young wizarding student - of meeting and being recognised as a talentd young witch by the Great Wizard of Oz himself.Made famous by the great Idina Menzel this song (and this orchestration) offer the opportunity for a dramatic, full bodied and spectacular feature solo in any concert of show and film music.Instrumentation:2 Flutes (2nd dbl. Zephyrwindmusic.com #1055051. Published by zephyrwindmusic.com (A0.1477673). Score and parts for orchestra, edited by John M. Laverty. German-born composer Emilie Mayer (1812-1882) wrote and published music during a time period that was challenging for a female composer. Doing so under the long shadows of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven complicated the situation, yet Mayer prospered and was quite successful during her lifetime. Sadly, despite this early success, her works have not received the number of performances they deserve. Faust Overture, premiered shortly before Mayer’s death, is by far her most successful orchestral work. In it, one can clearly hear the influence of Beethoven. This edition is based entirely on Mayer’s 1880 publication. It is highly edited including an update to modern instrumentation and the addition of missing/ inconsistent dynamics and articulations. As with all Zephyrwindmusic publications, parts come with an Unlimited Copy License, thus removing any potential copyright issues. 'Portals' from Avengers: Endgame. This orchestral arrangement sticks closely to the original version with a few alterations and additions in orchestration and arrangement to suit the playing ability of Chetham's Philharmonic Orchestra (the orchestra of the Middle School at Chetham's School of Music). It features a more standard orchestral line up (without the additional Hollywood style brass forces that appear to be in the original) as well as extra parts for Alto sax, Tenor sax, Baritone sax and Harp. The woodwind play a larger part in this version to add more colour and cover some of the original choral part that appear in the original. Timpani has been reduced to be able to be played by just one player on just 3 timpani. The ending has been altered so that if finishes on a shock chord instead of the original's long held, dying away chord.

Www.studio-orchestrations.com #1010904. Published by www.studio-orchestrations.com (A0.1430275). From the 2006 Ron Howard film adaptation of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, this track is taken from the soundtrack which underscores the final late night walk by Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) through the streets of Paris to (possibly and hopefully) conclude his long and testing quest to seek the Holy Grail. No spoilers however. If you've not seen it, then add it to your playlist! The film's soundtrack evokes great emotion throughout and whatever criticisms there may have been over the years about the book, the story, the film etc.. this is definitely one of Hans Zimmer's finest emotional and thought provoking soundtrack scores, drawing from a huge range of musical influences, from the big symphonic oceanic sounscapes to the intimate vocal solo and choral plainchant that are peppered throughout the score. It is an example of how a soundtrack can really make a massive difference to what some might describe glibly as a popcorn movie.Very much like Time in Inception Zimmer takes a relatively simple harmonic and melodic trope and adds layers of melodic counter melody and rhythmic building to create an awe inspiring and (let's face it BIG!) climax, supporting the narrative of the film and story but also creating music that can be taken away from the cinematic experience and enjoyed for its own sake. This orchestration emulkates as closely as possible the soundtrack. Some licence has been taken with the addition of 2 Trumpets which build the climax with the upper strings. SATB choir is also scored as per the original soundtrack but optional as it is mostly covered by orchestral instruments and is also a very brief appearance but - at least for the sopranos - extremely challenging for anyone apart from a professional specialist choral ensemble. The synth section of the keyboard part in the opening pages can also be optional, adding some background sounds that Zimmer is so renowned for (this may be beyond the budget of some performing groups we appeciate). However the piano cues later in the piece are highly desirable as they add a percussive support to the strings. We commend this score to anyone buidling a program of film music for their orchestral event, particularly if you are wishing to include some more modern concert ideas, and in particular a Hans Zimmer classic.INSTRUMENTATON:2 Flutes2 Oboes2 Clarinets2 Bassoons1 Contra-Bassoon (Optional)4 Horns2 Trumpets3 Trombones1 TubaTimpani2 Percussion[Cymbals/Suspp.Cymbal/Bass Drum/Tubular Bells]KeyboardSATB Choir [Optional]Strings.

Published by Birdwell Music LLC (A0.1004946). Full symphonic underscore for a poem dedicated to all Dogs in the world. It's a sentimental offering, but one intended to raise awareness of the need to support organizations that shelter and care for animals in order to find them homes where they can live long, happy and healthy lives. The musical underscore starts off dramatic but soon becomes more atmospheric to underscore the poem. The poem is timed somewhat to the music, however, each reader will offer their own interpretation and cadence to fit within the overall fabric of the music. The score is particularly suited for professional orchestras especially since it calls for two harpists and a full compliment of strings, winds, and brass, and a variety of interesting percussion. Everything about the score is intended to underscore the poem reader, so dynamics are generally soft and the score will work and sound great even with orchestras lacking some of the instrumentation.Portions of all proceeds from sales of this score will be donated to charities supporting the care of Dogs, Cats, and other animals and it is the composer's/poet's wish that live performances will make the most of the symphonic hall setting to encourage others to donate generously to organizations that promote animal well-being.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976721 Composed by 12th Century Plainchant. Arranged by Robert Myers. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 76 pages. WheatMyer Music #4798079. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976721). DIVINUM MYSTERIUM is a chant tune dating to the 12th century which is associated with the hymn, Of the Father's Love Begotten, based on the Latin hymn, Corde natus ex parentis, written by Prudentius in the late 4th / early 5th century. This is thus one of the very oldest texts and tunes still sung in our churches today. The shape and flow of this arrangement, which includes quotations from CANTIQUE de NOEL (O Holy Night) – Adolphe Adam (1844), was strongly influenced by what one writer described as the strong wave shapes of the tune. I’ve attempted to make these waves a significant feature of the piece, featured in both the constant crescendo/decrescendos and the interweaving of the two tunes. And, just as ocean waves don’t arrive in steady rhythms, these musical waves are variable – sometimes closely spaced, sometimes not, and sometimes overlapping. The unique character of each of the three major sections is implied in their headings: (1) with mystery and wonder, (2) Joyfully – a child is born, and (3) contemplative – God is with us. The opening section portrays the mystery of the trinity (the hymn text was written as an apology for the Nicene Creed) mixed with the wonder of the Creator God lying in a manger. Since the tune is derived from medieval chant, I wanted this section to reflect the loose metrical nature of that genre, so the melodic phrasing should predominate over any sense of meter up to letter C. The initial tonal and metrical ambiguity and the fractured melodic lines gradually meld into conventional tonality and clear statements of the two main themes. Don’t let the poco rit. just before C be too poco. Build a definite sense of tension in anticipation of the Presto section. The Presto section presents the first complete statement of the main theme. I felt a strong, rhythmic treatment should follow the ambiguity of the opening to reflect the joy of the Messiah’s incarnation realized. However, the gravity of the text demands avoidance of frivolity and banality. Thus, I used a combination of the long, flowing lines with a syncopated pulse and echoing rhythms to produce what I hope is a fresh but still reverent treatment of this ancient hymn – one that produces a kaleidoscope of tonal color. Arriving at the third section at letter F, the asymmetrical pulse gradually shifts into a straight 3 pattern. The slower tempo and return of the secondary theme call us to reflect on the import of God now with us. The marking of Let off the gas and coast to the end is a word picture of how the tempo should draw to a close, as would an expert helmsman allow the ship’s momentum to stop just as it taps the dock. One parting moment is provided to savor the woodwinds closing phrase from CANTIQUE de NOEL. Robert Myers S.D.G. And now I thought a lot if I could use these world-famous hits by Kreisler written for violin and piano, which will be transferred to the orchestra. However, my desire to emphasize my deepest respect and love for their author pushed me to do so. The result is a 3-part suite, which I tentatively called Petite Suite (10 min.) I hope that even in such an electronic sound it should leave an impression. In each part of my transcription for orchestra, I found a place for a solo violin, initially indicating the original sound of each piece.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.995852 Composed by Andrew Strawn. Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 125 pages. Andrew Strawn #4726553. Published by Andrew Strawn (A0.995852). Dedicated to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris which caught fire during the writing of this piece. The Great Cathedral is a long-anticipated work. I have had the primary chorale melody for nearly a year prior to the time of publication. So it seems rather overdue to complete it. Being the first large work for orchestra I have composed in a while, it was certainly a challenge. Nevertheless, this piece has come together just as I wanted it to. Written for full orchestra, choir, harp, piano, and organ, The Great Cathedral is a colossal work. It features the principal violinist and travels through a variety of orchestrations. From a French revolution-style march, swelling chorales, fugal expositions, and dissonate sforzandos this piece transforms the primary melody across the score. I am proud to have finally completed this work and I hope you enjoy, The Great Cathedral. In the event a choir is unavailable, choir parts have been cued in the organ. The organ would then play on a reed setting.Includes a legal-sized score and a letter-sized set of parts.

Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.511812). Symphony No.1 “KangKangSullae†Symphony No. 1 has the name “KangKangSullaeâ€, and the composer is like any other korean composer. “What does it mean to be Korean?†With the question, he is trying to compose such works. A Korean work means a work that contains Korean emotions and spirit, and the melody of “KangKangSullae†has been handed down through a long history to this day, so it can be said that it is a keepsake containing the soul of Korea. With this in mind, the theme of “KangKangSullae†was cited in the 4th movement, and it was named as a representative name for the Symphony as an element that forms the basic character of this movement. For reference, the origin of “KangKangSullae†is from women's circular dance. It was because they valued the relationship between each other. They held hands, sang and danced, and it was a representative event to commemorate the full moon and the harvest. The first movement is in 6/8 time, and two contrasting themes, masculine and feminine, appear in normal sonata form. The second movement crosses the natural harmonics of the violin and the normal playing method in 4/4 time, expressing oriental excellence and emotion. The third movement is composed in a short ABA form with a humorous lightness and weight in 3/8 time. The fourth movement quoted the theme of “Ganggangsullae†in 8/12 time, and was composed in the form of variations that change with various personalities, sometimes majestic, sometimes sobbing, calmly, etc.Attached Music file is only 1st. movement, it's just for a reference.
