Think of the story behind this music as about a young lady who  just loves the waltz, and loves to sing and dance to its lilting triple time.  Her dancing partner is a dashing, ever so handsome young man, who sweeps her off her feet and takes her breath away with his charm and grace, as they float away on the wings of A Dance In Triple Time!I originally composed this piece as a little warm up ditty for my chorus, but as I worked the melody and the harmony, it grew into just a little bit more than a warm up exercise. We always enjoyed singing this little piece for our audiences. And they always enjoyed hearing it. One caveat; The lyrics go by quickly! Leads, use your best diction and pronunciation, so the story doesn't get lost. Harmony voices, keep the melody prominent, by always singing your la-las at least one dynamic notch below the melody!Choose the waltz tempo of your choice - very relaxed to very lilting in 1.  Base your choice on being able to deliver the lyrics with great clarity, especially in the faster passages. Be sure to observe the accelerandos, broadening tempos, a tempos, legatos, and staccatos. They all have much to do with delivering the style of this piece, especially the off beat la-las. Some pairs are staccato, in other pairs, the first la is legato, the second la is staccato.The metronome marks more accurately describe the accelerandos and broadenings. On the repeat at 11, a slight increase in the tempo will add urgency and intensity. Keep the melody prominent as it moves to different voices, beginning at 37. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth - Choral Arrangement for SSAA and Piano by Michael Thomas Coull.You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (also known as You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)) is the first solo single by the American singer Meat Loaf, released in 1977.  It is a track from his album Bat Out of Hell, written by Jim Steinman. According to his autobiography, Meat Loaf asked Jim Steinman to write a song that was not 15 or 20 minutes long, and, in Meat Loaf’s words, a ‘pop song’.  His autobiography also dates the writing of the song to 1975, the song reportedly being a key factor in Meat Loaf and Steinman deciding to do an album together. The song was the first single released from the album, with an edit of For Crying Out Loud as the B-side.  The record peaked at No. 73 in the Record World singles chart, and didn't appear at all in Billboard Hot 100.  Billboard reviewed the single, finding the guitar introduction to be energetic, the beat to be ‘catchy’ and the vocal performance to be somewhat similar to Bruce Springsteen. Billboard also commented on how occasional pauses in the instruments allow the ‘infectious’ vocals to be highlighted.  Following the success of the next two singles, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, the song was re-released in October 1978 with Paradise as the B-side.  This issue peaked at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, over a year after the first release of the song.This exciting and energetic choral arrangement is voiced for SSAA women's choir with piano accompaniment, and will lend a touch of contemporary pop/rock to your next concert.Also available for SATB.

This is a fabulous song by Pentatonix which I have arranged for four-part (SSAA) a cappella voices, although sometimes the voice parts split. It can be sung with or without the body percussion as I know it's sometimes difficult to do both at the same time!Whilst in the original Pentatonix song, Scott Hoying has most of the solos, I have arranged this so that all voices get the chance to sing the main melody. The bass part is not the most interesting(!) as the whole song is built over a repeating two-bar phrase (four chords). However, in this arrangement, I have managed to give them the main melody at bar 30 and at bar 61 they are the only voice-part to sing Mitch's parting tune - it's the basses' time to shine!I have two versions of this song available. The other version (Product Number 1355563) is easier to sing. If you want a challenge, this is the version you should try! It's as close as I could get to the original.

The song tells a story of a hard-working blue-collar woman, based on inspiration Summer found after the 25th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony (23 Feb 1983) when she attended an after-party. She encountered a restroom attendant named Onetta Johnson (whose name is mentioned in the song) whom she found sound asleep - despite a blaring TV - exhausted from working long hours. Summer related the story in an interview: I looked at her and my heart just filled up with compassion for this lady, and I thought to myself: God, she works hard for the money, cooped up in this stinky little room all night. Then I thought about it, and I said, She works hard for the money... She works hard for the money...This is it! This is it! A super-jazzy arrangement of this uptempo swing song as sung by Clare Teal, this is one that is fiendishly challenging, but worthy of an attempt by established SSAA a cappella groups who are experienced and confident with the swing genre. The arranger, the late Jen Mills, was an accomplished jazz musician as well as a barbershop singer and LABBS Music Judge. This arrangement has been donated by her partner for publication by LABBS on SMP so that SSAA a cappella groups can experience the joy of this arrangement.This arrangement is NOT suitable for barbershop contest, as the harmony parts are frequently performing non-homorhythmically with neutral syllables, to give a huge hit of big band flavour.The arrangement is predominantly in the barbershop style (melody in the inner voice) but at times the melody gets passed around the other parts too, so everyone gets a turn!With an extended vocal instrumental intro, it would be suitable for a show where a spoken intro overlays the first 30 seconds or so (once the speech is planned, some bars can be repeated as many times as needed to accommodate).For those unfamiliar with the song, look up Clare Teal's performance on YouTube from her album Don't Talk.
