Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.578875). This letter to my grandmother is a recollection of her final years in the 1970s. She suffered from Parkinsons and became very frustrated with the fact that her body simply didn't follow the commands of her brain. But she was always a very polite, gentle and yet determined person - others in this situation might have used swear words, but, when she found herself immobilised, my gran would simply shout Bunny Rabbits!. This would make us laugh and she would laugh along with us. The frustration is represented in the music by the Delians melodic fragment DEFGEDE (in the D Dorian mode) interrupted by the timpani, and eventually other instruments, repeating the frustrated bunny rabbits theme. Finally - following her Christian beliefs, her soul goes up to an afterlife in which she is released from the frustration and the bunny rabbits, who have a final grumble on brass and timpani and give way to an ethereal minor chord with a major sixth, as suggested by the Dorian mode. The sound sample here is an electronic preview. The piece was premiered on 30 January 2016 by the Octava Chamber Orchestra along with various other short movements composed by other members of the Delian Society as part of Delian Suite No 8.

This very popular piece has enjoyed performances across the country. Entre Nous was originally premiered in Omaha, Nebraska with the University of Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. Soon, Entre Nous made it's way to places such as Florida, Texas, and most recently, Iowa, where this newest revision was premiered. Entre Nous has faired well in competition and recital and is sure to be a great addition the repertoire of any chamber orchestra.Entre Nous (between me and thee) is a conversation between a man and his God. It is a single movement, ternary composition, mirroring the Holy Trinity. Beginning in a solemn g minor, it quickly moves forward with an endless flow of eighth note counterpoint, emerging enchantingly into the flowing melancholy melody of the B section. The second A surfaces in a minor with a sudden new energy and direction, slipping into a deeply contemplative, ethereally enchanting ending.Entre Nous is also a very unique and interesting piece, perhaps the reason for its popularity. Structurally, it turns upside-down a number of times, each line becoming the melody at some point. A very linear piece, melodic interweaving and predominance give Entre Nous a characteristic that can be best described as enchanting. Much of the melody being perceived is actually a combination of several lines of music at once, often in contrast to another melody or two beneath.Premiere: University of Nebraska at Omaha - Chamber Orchestra - April 30, 1997Difficulty: Moderate - A great piece for middle school or youth orchestras. This piano concerto (concertino) by Jean Baptiste Vanhal (1739-1813) is a very charming and lively 'first concerto' for late intermediate pianists as the technical difficulty of the solo part is more or less that of the Mozart Sonata in C (KV545). The key is C major. It has three movements, Allegro moderato, Andante en Finale, which is a theme with 3 variations.The 'orchestra' consists of a viola and a violoncello part. A great student concerto, or a lively piece of chamber music. Total 32 pages, the complete score is provided as well as separate parts for the piano, viola and cello parts. This edition is created from the manuscript version of the piece. The composer provided very few performance markings, all markings in the score were given by the composer.

This serenade was written as a dedication to composer and music critic Louis Ehlert, whose positive reviews of Dvořák’s works, helped boost his career in Germany. This arrangement focuses on the first of the four movement work which was labeled as Moderato, quasi marcia. The orchestration alone makes this piece unique and requires many of the instruments found in an orchestra. It is a great choice for ensembles that have players that double on other instruments and as a way to showcase chamber work without excluding too many musicians.To add options to this arrangement, supplemental parts have been included for Piano, Guitar, Timpani, Marimba, Snare Drum, Drum Set, Cymbals and Triangle/Bass Drum.

The Chalumeau Concerto by Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688 - 1758) is one of the few examples of a piece written by a signiï¬cant composer for this instrument. In addition to being a piece written for an instrument in transition, the piece itself is from an era when compositional style was in great transition. The Chalumeau Concerto has elements that can be considered either late Baroque period or early Classical period just like the instrument itself. To add to the strange development of this instrument, two additional spellings are found on the original set of parts. “Chalumeaux†and “Chalimeau†can be clearly seen. In my opinion, this short piece could decorate any concert of a symphony orchestra as an encore. Considering the modest composition of performers, it could have been successfully performed by almost any chamber orchestra. (Fl, 1.2 Ob, Cl in B, Bn, Harp and Strings).

The piece won the International Composition Competition Anima Mundi organized by the Opera Primaziale di Pisa in 2009.Stefano Maria TorchioItalian Violinist, Composer and Conductor, spent his education between Italy and the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna, where he studied Orchestral Conducting with U.
