Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.701772). An original hymn with text by Kathryn Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/WhyM9qYVClI 'Twas the night before New Year’s and all through the towns, People were cheering, jumping up and down; They stood in anticipation to watch a ball drop, Or exclaimed in amazement as fireworks popped. What happens next, as a new year begins? Will people be more loving? Repent of their sins? A blank calendar now opens__months, weeks and days__ Will we draw closer to Jesus and follow His ways? That’s the way to make this a truly Happy New Year, So may we all resolve to fill it with good cheer, And all anger and fighting immediately cease, That at last we’ll have a time of good will and peace.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890746 Composed by French Traditional. Arranged by Andrew Wainwright. Christmas. Score and parts. 69 pages. Andrew Wainwright #4888451. Published by Andrew Wainwright (A0.890746). A spectacular opener to any Christmas concert, based on the French carol, Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella. This work tells the story of a group of children in medieval Provence, dressed up as shepherds and milkmaids, carrying torches and candles as they proceed to the stable. As they draw closer and their excitement increases, they are constantly reminded by their parents to keep the noise down so that they don't wake up the baby Jesus. The music begins quietly and builds to a majestic conclusion. If I were still conducting regularly, this would certainly be on my list as a Christmas concert opener - it sets the energy and mood most effectively. The scoring is terrific. Paul Hindmarsh, music critic *Please note audio is of the version with choir.

Composed by Public Domain, as performed and recorded by Isadar. Arranged by Isadar. Contemporary Classical, Neo- Classical, Christmas, Recital, New Age. Sheet Music Single. 8 pages. Published by Mainya Music Publishing
Contains:<br> "Greensleeves 2012"<br> - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, "O Christmas" (also available on SMP)<br> <br> Sounds like: Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Liz Story's "The Gift," George Winston's "December," legacy Windham Hill solo piano artists, "A Winter's Solstice" compilations.<br> <br> Note: “Greensleeves 2012” is a revisited and evolved arrangement which like my earlier version, was inspired by – and also pays ‘homage’ to – Liz Story’s brilliant take on this timeless piece.<br> <br> Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording<br> <br> Album review by: Michael Diamond (http://michaeldiamondmusic.com):<br> <br> Fresh on the heels of his highly acclaimed chart-topping CD, Reconstructed, Isadar gifts us with a sparkling new album of holiday-themed instrumental music for solo piano, entitled “O Christmas.” Given the proximity to his recent release, one might assume that this one was quickly produced, but in reality O Christmas has been 7 years in the making. Various circumstances including other recording projects, a segue into the field of video production, and a cross country move from NYC to the west coast and later back again, created delays with the completion of the album. But as they say, “good things come to those who wait.”<br> One of the most interesting things about this album is the fact that the selections are traditional Christmas songs, yet some were chosen because they are less well known, or “off the beaten path” as Isadar characterizes them. This follows the pattern set by his 1999 Christmas album “In Search For The Meaning Of Christmas,” yet this new CD mines even deeper in its quest for interesting and unusual choices.<br> <br> The album begins with a track called “Good Christian Men.” Steeped in history, the song dates back to 14th century Germany and its Latin title was originally “In Dulci Jubilo” before it was translated into English in the 1800’s. Isadar’s interpretation creates a lively and festive air that makes a perfect portal to the recording. The high-spirited mood continues on the next song, “Teddy Bears Picnic,” which although not technically a Christmas song, has been interwoven by Isadar with “March Of The Toys” to tie it in with the holidays – a clever arrangement of these intriguing melodies. One of the more well-known carols on the album is “O Christmas Tree” and is sure to have listeners humming along with it’s familiar refrain.<br> <br> A track entitled “Still” is an innovative rendition of the classic “Still, Still, Still” which Isadar has put his own spin on, or as he jokingly puts it “jazzed up shamelessly.” No such liberties were taken on the classic “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” however. This song provides a showcase for Isadar’s accomplished grand piano work, featuring lush left hand arpeggios creating a strong foundation for his more delicate right hand melodies to dance upon – a powerful and moving combination. Another of the less well known, yet equally inspiring tunes is a Puerto Rican carol entitled “Song Of The Wise Men.” It has been said that: “Christmas is, above all, a children’s holiday, and many hymns are addressed to children, reminding them that the real reason for the sugarplums and Christmas trees is the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child.” This theme is well reflected in Isadar’s choice of “O Come Little Children,” based on a carol from the 1800’s.<br> <br> Among my favorite tracks on the album are the wistful strains of “Greensleeves 2012,” which Isadar interprets with elegance and grandeur and also pays ‘homage’ to Liz Story’s brilliant take on this enduring composition. This is followed by a rendition of “Masters In This Hall,” which can best be described as, well… “masterful.” The song dates back to the sixteenth century, and is another of the less well-known tunes that Isadar has chosen to feature. The album draws to a close with Isadar invoking artistic license on what is perhaps one of the most unique and liberal versions of a classic carol heard here yet. Based on “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” Isadar characterizes it as “an uninhibited melancholy arrangement.” While I don’t know if “melancholy” is the word I would use to describe it, it does have a pensive quality and is presented more as a nocturne than usual lively carol it is known as. I really liked the interpretation and respect Isadar’s creativity and distinctive rendering of the song.<br> <br> “O Christmas” is an exceptional holiday collection, not only for Isadar’s elegant grand piano artistry, but as well for the interesting and sometimes unexpected repertoire contained within. Like ornaments on a tree, the songs adorn the album, enhancing its beauty with their diversity, individuality, and timelessness. Given the well-deserved accolades and popularity of Isadar’s distinctive piano style, I’m sure that fans will want to include “O Christmas” in their collection and make it a part of their holiday tradition.Contains:<br> "Greensleeves 2012"<br> - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, "O Christmas" (also available on SMP)<br> <br> Sounds like: Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Liz Story's "The Gift," George Winston's "December," legacy Windham Hill solo piano artists, "A Winter's Solstice" compilations.<br> <br> Note: “Greensleeves 2012” is a revisited and evolved arrangement which like my earlier version, was inspired by – and also pays ‘homage’ to – Liz Story’s brilliant take on this timeless piece.<br> <br> Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording<br> <br> Album review by: Michael Diamond (http://michaeldiamondmusic.com):<br> <br> Fresh on the heels of his highly acclaimed chart-topping CD, Reconstructed, Isadar gifts us with a sparkling new album of holiday-themed instrumental music for solo piano, entitled “O Christmas.” Given the proximity to his recent release, one might assume that this one was quickly produced, but in reality O Christmas has been 7 years in the making. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1241720 Composed by Sarah Baker. 21st Century,Children,Classical,Comedy. Score. 24 pages. Forsyth Brothers Ltd #837056. Published by Forsyth Brothers Ltd (A0.1241720). Suitable for players of around grade 4-5 standard, these evocative sound pieces describe a crash-landing hot air balloon, garden invading cows and a even a snake in a pond!Sarah Baker is Vocal Composer in Residence for Services at Education Music Services, an ABRSM examiner and a well known composer of songs and musicals for primary schools and massed-choral events. All this experience has come together in the creation of this album of piano pieces, inspired by growing up in the Chiltern Hills.Contents:Air Balloon!Buzzards CirclingThere’s a Cow in the Garden Eating the FlowersWatching the World Go ByAutumn SkiesFriendsSnake in the PondMorning CommuteThe Witch's CottageComposer’s NotesAir Balloon! One vivid memory I have as a child is of the day that a hot air balloon passed over our house and made an emergency landing on the road in front!  It was both terrifying and exhilarating to watch the balloon float past and then land so near by.Buzzards Circling There is something so calming and restful about watching birds of prey circling in the thermal currents of a summer sky. This piano solo captures the beauty of their flight as they glide so effortlessly through the air. There’s A Cow In The Garden Eating The Flowers Inspired by the memory of seeing an unexpected cow in the garden! This surreal image is captured in a quirky waltz, as I portray both the absurdity of the moment and the sense of wonder I felt as a child. The final phrase articulates my longing: ‘I wish it would come again’.Watching The World Go By A short, reflective piece, remembering what it was like to have time to just sit and watch the world go by from my bedroom window.Autumn Skies A miniature about the beauty of Autumn skies and the poignant sense of loss for a summer gone.Friends I was fortunate to have several children of my own age living close by. We seemed to be forever making dens, playing out in the street and generally enjoying each other’s company. This piece reflects that sense of well-being.Snake In The Pond One hot summer I was astonished and scared to see a grass snake cooling off in our garden pond! I watched, both horrified and fascinated, as it rose up from the depths and then disappeared again.Morning Commute I recollect many mornings stuck in traffic as my Dad took me to school on his way to work. We may not have chatted a lot, but it was always good to be together with my Dad, lost in our own thoughts. The Witch’s Cottage My siblings and I had a fascination with a small cottage nearby. It was set back from the road in a dark part of the woods and we called it 'the witch's cottage’. Every time we passed, I imagined I heard the distant cackle of the witch and wished I could catch a glimpse of her. These pieces are written to complement my other collection, Night Time Impressions, which also draw on childhood recollections, particularly of the woods behind the house where I grew up.Sarah Baker2023.

Tropical Cafe - at the Resort This piece is originally in a flute duet and piano version, arranged by Katsuo Mizushina for saxophone quartet. The suite is inspired by a story in a café at a resort, but can also be performed as excerpts. We would also be happy if the performers could freely enjoy the piece by adding piano and percussion instruments for optional parts and ad-libbing.Please imagine your favorite café and play it. (Mari Miura)Click here for piano accompaniment sound files.A clear blue sky.Reflected in a sea of sapphire.Waves lapping on the dazzling white of the beach glimmer in the sunlight. The Tropical Cafe, a charming building full of tourists on the shore. It has a mysterious power that transports you into the world of whatever you order.Word of its power soon spread, and now business is booming. But who will visit today? I.Bossa Nova on the Beach Today’s first customers are a group of girls who came to the beach for a holiday.“We need something to match our excitement!”“What could capture the radiance of the sun reflecting on the beach?”They’re having the time of their lives as they decide what to order.“This would be perfect!”One of the girls points out the Beach Bossa Nova. II.Anniversary Waltz At high noon, an elderly couple walks in.“Today is our wedding anniversary.”“We always talked about returning to this beach after we got married here, but we never got round to it.”“Until today!”The sun shining. Seagulls soaring across the sky. Waves gently lapping the shoreline. It was exactly as they’d remembered.Just like the waltz they danced at their wedding, they order the Anniversary Waltz. III.Songs of Nostalgia As the sun begins to set in the west, a customer dressed in unfamiliar clothes enters the cafe.“I wonder where this sea leads to.”The sun shines on half of his face, casting a long shadow.Thinking of his hometown, he gazes at the menu. His eyes tinged with sorrow, he comes across the Song of Nostalgia. IV.Happy Samba Flaming torches are lit as the sun falls beyond the horizon. When you feel a little lonesome as an exciting day draws to a close, treat yourself to the cafe’s most uplifting item. The Happy Samba!May tomorrow be filled with happiness.Click here for other works by Mari Miura.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.983997 Composed by Steven H. Boothe. Arranged by Ashley Ivers. Christian,Pop. Score. 12 pages. Boothe Publishing #4360831. Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.983997). Whether its food, alcohol, drugs, or viewing pornography. Addictions destroy the lives of everyone around them. I look at addictions as if they were little devils that have us down and are jumping on top of us and won’t let us get up. Little by little the addicted and all of his friends and family lose faith, hope, love, peace, joy, and self respect. The shame of addiction keeps them in despair. They constantly have voices in their heads that say you’re no good, you’re no good, do you hear me, you’re no good. Well I’m here to tell you that is a lie. You are good. You are worth something. Life , family, love, peace, joy. Those are all things that are worth fighting for. Take them back. You are not unworthy. You can fight the addiction. You have made mistakes that are correctable. God tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from you. Then God says to draw near unto Him and He will draw near unto you. When God draws close to us, we will recieve His strength and power to leave the addiction behind. With Him we can overcome anything.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1430275 Composed by Hans Zimmer. Arranged by John Langley / Studio Orchestrations. Classical,Contemporary,Film/TV,Religious,Thriller. 102 pages. Www.studio-orchestrations.com #1010904. Published by www.studio-orchestrations.com (A0.1430275). From the 2006 Ron Howard film adaptation of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, this track is taken from the soundtrack which underscores the final late night walk by Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) through the streets of Paris to (possibly and hopefully) conclude his long and testing quest to seek the Holy Grail. No spoilers however. If you've not seen it, then add it to your playlist! The film's soundtrack evokes great emotion throughout and whatever criticisms there may have been over the years about the book, the story, the film etc.. this is definitely one of Hans Zimmer's finest emotional and thought provoking soundtrack scores, drawing from a huge range of musical influences, from the big symphonic oceanic sounscapes to the intimate vocal solo and choral plainchant that are peppered throughout the score. It is an example of how a soundtrack can really make a massive difference to what some might describe glibly as a popcorn movie.Very much like Time in Inception Zimmer takes a relatively simple harmonic and melodic trope and adds layers of melodic counter melody and rhythmic building to create an awe inspiring and (let's face it BIG!) climax, supporting the narrative of the film and story but also creating music that can be taken away from the cinematic experience and enjoyed for its own sake. This orchestration emulkates as closely as possible the soundtrack. Some licence has been taken with the addition of 2 Trumpets which build the climax with the upper strings. SATB choir is also scored as per the original soundtrack but optional as it is mostly covered by orchestral instruments and is also a very brief appearance but - at least for the sopranos - extremely challenging for anyone apart from a professional specialist choral ensemble. The synth section of the keyboard part in the opening pages can also be optional, adding some background sounds that Zimmer is so renowned for (this may be beyond the budget of some performing groups we appeciate). However the piano cues later in the piece are highly desirable as they add a percussive support to the strings. We commend this score to anyone buidling a program of film music for their orchestral event, particularly if you are wishing to include some more modern concert ideas, and in particular a Hans Zimmer classic.INSTRUMENTATON:2 Flutes2 Oboes2 Clarinets2 Bassoons1 Contra-Bassoon (Optional)4 Horns2 Trumpets3 Trombones1 TubaTimpani2 Percussion[Cymbals/Suspp.Cymbal/Bass Drum/Tubular Bells]KeyboardSATB Choir [Optional]Strings.

SATB choir and organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.AE152-E Composed by Sheldon Curry. Lessons and Carols. 21 pages. Aureole Editions - Digital #AE152-E. Published by Aureole Editions - Digital (MQ.AE152-E). English.Commissioned by True Concord (Tucson, AZ) for their annual Christmas Lessons and Carols, these settings of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis are powerful and effective. Melding an almost British sensibility with a contemporary musical language, they require an advanced ensemble and capable organist. We think you'll agree that the results are stunning.Notes from the Composer:Magnificat: Imagine you are a teenage Jewish girl a little over 2 thousand years ago. You have almost no power to affect any change in your life other than the biological ones that are happening to you daily. You've been feeling strange lately, nauseous in the mornings. You're soon to be married to an older man you barely know. Your cousin Elizabeth is pregnant and you are on your way to visit her. As you walk, you silently meditate on your current state of affairs, absentmindedly chanting a prayer you've heard since birth.Suddenly, a bright light and strange being appear, the being greets you and gives you the most bizarre news anyone has ever heard. After your initial shock, you can't help but praise God.Nunc dimittis: An old man is at the temple in Jerusalem. Year after year, day after day, hour after hour he has longed for deliverance from Roman oppression and the coming of Messiah. On this day, as he trudges along, he encounters a young girl, an older man and a baby. Not unusual, but something about the child catches his eye and draws him to the family. As he stands staring at the child, suddenly he knows. He knows! This is the One he has been waiting for. The long wait is over. The search is ended. He takes the baby from the mother and holds him close. He feels not elation as much as relief. He can now rest in peace.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040102 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 140 pages. DoReMi Edition #644926. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1040102). One of the Masterpieces of Chinese Music of 20th Century The magnificent cave art at Dunhuang, in Western China sets the stage for the ballet, “Dream of Dunhuangâ€. In the middle of the vast wastes of Western China, lies the oasis of Dunhuang, situated in today‘s Gansu Province. Since the Western Han Dynasty(202BC-8AC), Dunhuang was an important trading and cultural center on the famous “Silk Road’, the ribbon of communication which fostered the historic ties between East and West. In the East was China, source of treasured trading articles such as silk; in the West, the â€road“ branched to Venice, and north to what is today‘s Russia. The mural led caves at Dunhuang, which were begun the Northern Wei dynasty(336AD), and developed over one thousand years into the Qing Dynasty, re presents one of the world‘s richest cultural treasures. Drawing on bothn Western(Indian and Persian) as well as Chinese tradition, the caves, of which 492 remain intact, were decorated as a mines of religious devotion, with the initiation of Buddhism into China. The subjects of the murals, such as devise, demons, apsaras and bodhisattvas, represent the entire pantheon of Buddhist mythology, yet are also significant in their representation of muti-racial and muti-cultural influences, standing as an important testament to the age old exchange between East and West. A fabricated fantasia, the story of the ballet was inspirited by the famous artist, maestro Chang Shu-hong, who dedicated his whole life to Dunhuang. One of the Huang An-lun‘s major compositions with the play written by Xu Qing-dong, the score of “Dream of Dunhuang†was completed in mid-1979. The ballet has been dedicated to the composer‘s closest friends, Canadian writers John Fraser and Elizabeth MacCallun. Up to the date this CD being released, the ballet has never got a chance to performed in mainland China. Nevertheless, its music has been wildly performed and warmly received around the world. The Singapore premiere of its suite No.1 was performed by the SSO, conducted by Maestro Lim Yao. It has been also chosen as one of the “Master Piece of Chinese Music in 20th Century†in 1993. The world premiere of the complete ballet was performed successfully by the Russian State Ballet of Moscow, directed by its artist director, Vyatcheslav Godeyev, in 1994. Choreographed by Chen Min, it was took place in Taiwan with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro David C.H.Chen. In 2002, ROI of Hong Kong has released the CD of the whole ballet, performed by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow. This is also the audio file attached. Before this recording conducted by the composer himself, the entire score was also performed by the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of Moscow in1995. The YouTube video was the World Premiere in Taiwan by the Russia National Ballet with the Taiwan symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Chen in 1994. The ballet, “ Dream of Dunhuang†depicts two young artists seeking the ultimate experience in love and expression. This two lovers arrived at desert and with the guidance of the celestial maiden, they discover the miracles of Dunhuang. It‘s divided into three acts: Act I: Desert, Act II: Cave, and Act III: Mogao cave.
