From there to write it down there was only one step. As a second theme, it seemed appropriate to invert the melody, since twinhood implies a certain specular symmetry. Hamacando a las mellizas has the traditional structure of the twelve-bar blues, and a merry, innocent and carefree character. Hamacando a las mellizas was composed in Bremen (Germany) between June 21 and 23, 2020. Shortly afterwards, adaptations for a variety of instrumental combinations were written, such as - alto saxophone, double bass and piano (*) - clarinet, double bass and piano - violin and piano - clarinet quartet The version for clarinet quartet was premiered within the framework of the IV International Festival of Clarinets of San MartÃn de los Andes (Argentina), which took place online from November 12 to 15, 2020. This song is a folk ditty. One of the lyrics describes the plight of residents in Fengyang County, Anhui Province in the early Ming Dynasty, and insinuates that Zhu Yuanzhang failed to take care of the people in his hometown, making them unable to settle down and live in their hometown. The string part of this adapted version is derived from the arrangement by composer Bob Phillips, and the wind and percussion parts are configured according to the characteristics of traditional Chinese music, making it a complete symphonic work. Also, I was trying to add saxophone section into my orchestration to enhance and support the middle timbre of the orchestra, because the saxophone has a deeper sound to across the strings and woodwinds smoothly.This adapted version is suitable for students with beginning level in orchestra performance, allowing students to feel the charm of symphonic music with simple techniques, and experience traditional Chinese culture and history.

ORCHESTRAL SCORES ARE AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL The Te Deum for mixed choir and symphony orchestra by Lorenzo Ondarra (1931- 2012) was composed in 1998 at the request of the Provincial Curia of the Capuchin Friars, to commemorate the First Centenary, in 2000, of the Restoration of the Navarre, Cantabria and Aragón Capuchin Province. The main theme is the Gregorian melody of the Te Deum, a thanksgiving hymn, which combines the melody of the Tonus Solemnis and the Tonus Simplex. The Gregorian melody alternates between the choir and the orchestra, and develops in a free style as a paraphrase, with frequent melodic movements through parallel fourths and fifths: a typical feature of Ondarra’s compositional language. Modal features permeate the entire work, succeeding one another with tonal sections and even bitonal elements. Ondarra’s orchestration reflects an outstanding work, in which the wind instruments, together with the ubtlety of the woods and strings, plays an important role. In the Italian province of Taranto, Apulia, the bite of a locally common type of wolf spider, named tarantula after the region, was popularly believed to be highly venomous and to lead to a hysterical condition known as tarantism. In this theme, the listener can imagine that someone has been bitten by a Tarantula and that person must dance very vigorously to cure the bite. At one point (8 measures before Rehearsal Mark I, the delirious dancer almost comes to a sleepy halt, but manages to summon the strength to finish the dance to become cured.

It is one of my all-time favourite Swedish folk songs. The text of the song is a poetic expression of longing felt for a loved-one. The arrangement goes in a slow waltz with a slight swing and would work well as a dance for romantic couples.The arrangement uses broken chords with many open strings which are meant to ring out while the melody floats above. The open strings in the chords give the piece a slightly modal character that is typical of many Swedish folk melodies.The notation and tabs contain extensive left and right hand fingering and is easily within reach of intermediate students of fingerstyle acoustic guitar.

Gangwondo Arirang is part of the Folksong Revisited for Chorus series. I kept the original melody of the Korean folksong and expanded to enhance the meaning. Kangwondo Arirang is from eastern province and its melodies often evoke the struggle of the region’s tough, mountainous terrain. The refrain that goes ‘ari-ari-ari’ may be used in many other Korean folksongs which paradoxically imply both sadness and grief.

An excellent addition to an Early Winter concert for diverse audiences, and appropriate for church or school. With a rhythm using 8th notes and 16th notes the audience will imagine brilliant bells ringing as shoppers rush up and down the streets, or as shepherds run to worship the Christ child.The limited range and repeated rhythmical phrases makes this arrangement appropriate for young inexperienced singers. Upper elementary and Middle School will have fun with this, but adult singers and community choirs will also enjoy this versatile arrangement.
