This work was commissioned by Susan and Elihu Rose. It was written at the request of tenor Robert White, to whom it is dedicated. It was premiered at Alice Tully Hall on February 17, 1993 by Robert White, James Galway, the Lark Quartet and pianist Brian Zeger. It was actually Miss Alice Tully's suggestion that some settings of Yeats would be lovely that prompted me to look at these poems. I was at once struck by their intense lyric beauty and decided immediately to use them for this work. The six poems were chosen from Yeats' 1899 collection The Wind Among the Reeds. Dealing with unrequited love, these particular poems have hints of the mystic preoccupations which were to become more prominent in Yeats' later work. Scored for an ensemble consisting of Flute, Piano and String Quartet, it was my intention that the beauty and clarity of the poetry should be matched by a directness of musical expression which would not overwhelm the poems. The instrumental writing makes no attempt at tone painting but rather provides a colorful but often austere psychological background to the tenor's melodies which are at times almost folk-like in their simplicity. The work is unified as a cycle not only by its tonal structure, but also through harmonic and motivic elements that the individual songs share.

The tragic circumstances surrounding the origin of the concerto are well known: Manon Gropius, the daughter of Berg's friend Alma Mahler, died of polio after the composer had written the first sketches to his violin concerto. In remembrance of her, he dedicated the work to the memory of an angel. Later, Berg decided to incorporate into the score the Bach chorale Es ist genug as a quote. He also worked on the solo part directly and intensely with the American violinist Louis Krasner, who had commissioned the work. Berg was no longer able to witness the first performance and the first edition of the concerto since he passed away in late 1935. This new edition is the first Urtext version of Berg's work, which was created in the midst of a spate of epoch-making violin concertos by Stravinsky (1931), Schoenberg (1936), Prokofiev (1937), Bartok (1938), Hindemith (1939) a. o. Errors from the first edition were corrected after an in-depth comparison with the autograph score, the short score and, in some cases, with the twelve-tone row structure. The entire performance material can be purchased; however, due to copyright reasons, the score and orchestral parts are not available the United States.Werden die Urtextausgaben von Breitkopf & Hartel aufgrund ihres hellblauen Umschlags augenzwinkernd die Himmlischen genannt, so ist dies in Bezug auf die neu vorgelegte Partitur Programm. Moyse provides the perfect study book for beginner to advanced flautists. With directions in French, English, German, Spanish and Japanese, 100 Easy and Progressive Studies for the Flute cannot be missed. French flautist, Marcel Moyse (1889-1984) studied with virtuosos Philippe Gaubet, Adolphe Hennebains and Paul Taffanel at the Paris Conservatoire. Moyse went on to become principal flute of various orchestras and also became known for his trademark tone, clear, flexible and penetrating, controlled by a fast vibrato. As well as performing, Moyse taught the flute and published a substantial number of study books for the instrument. 100 Easy and Progressive Studies, based on studies by Crammer, focuses on elements including phrasing, tempo, breath control, articulation, fingering and evenness, among other aspects. Being a prominent flute player himself, Moyse's 100 Easy and Progressive Studies is well-informed and essential to aspiring flautists.

This is the full score of Aheym For Orchestra , composed by Bryce Dessner , best known as the guitarist of The National, but also an acclaimed composer in his own right. If so desired, this work can be performed with Strings alone: the Wind and Percussion instruments are optional. Composed in 2009 for the Kronos Quartet for their performance in Brooklyn's Prospect Park for the Celebrate Brooklyn! festival, Aheym (meaning 'homeward' in Yiddish) was directly inspired by his parents' migration to Brooklyn. The score in this edition was first performed by the London Sinfonietta at the Southbank Centre in London on the 9th of October 2012. The work lasts around 8 minutes and isfilled with dynamic tempo changes, a mix of staccato and smooth playing and all-round excitement. It's a fantastic piece to play and the genius composition will keep audiences on their toes.

David Noon was a member of the faculty of Manhattan School of Music for 30 years, using a combination of entertainment and his vast knowledge of music history to encourage generations of students in pursuit of music careers. He was concurrently a wonderfully prolific composer, with well over 200 works to his credit. Cadenzas is an earlier work, reflecting the influences of serial music composers, such as Webern and Boulez, shortly before Noon's compositional style would take on new directions. This is the 1974 Carl Fischer Facsimile Edition performance score. For advanced performers.

Consolation - Like A Roselike Flower (Consolazione - Flos Ut Rosa) for Harp solo by Per Norgard (2002). Written for and dedicated to Tine Rehling. Programme note by the composer: The concept of Mary has a depth that transcends all religious persuasions. All over the earth symbols of the gentle and maternal are known. But the word 'Maria' is also associated - in sound - with the Latin word for the sea, mare, and she thus become the Star of the Sea, Maris Stella. In my 3rd Symphony the Maria motif is used in a hymn section in the second, and last, part of the work. The choral song “Flos ut rosa floruit” was composed directly in the context of the symphony, and themelody had a 'stamina' that carried it over into many later vocal and choral compositions, for instance the “Concerto for Harp No. 2 - through thorns” (2003) and the present Consolazione for harp solo , both works dedicated to Tine Rehling. .
