This is a unique arrangement for panflute and piano, a work that preserves the beauty of the original work, an icon for classical music repertoire, but at the same time different in essence due to the creative and innovative flavour that was introduced in orchestration on this occasion. The piece has been carefully adapted to suit the technical needs of each instrument, being a smart choice for the players that want to achieve the acclaim from the audience. This piece of music is suitable both for concerts given by professionals and for auditions in schools, colleges, conservatories or can be used in various other private events.

Syrinx Collage, a piano accompaniment (only) suggested by Debussy's Syrinx for flute alone. Syrinx Collage was written at the suggestion of the composer’s father and first flute teacher, Paul , who first taught him the piece when he was twelve. Syrinx is Schocker's favorite flute piece and he has always been curious about what the underlying chords might be. While not trying to slavishly imitate Debussy, his accompaniment has a Debussy-esque quality. We hope it will give flutists another view of this great work.

'In August [Bartók] heard the fifty-year-old Ãron Balogh playing the peasant flute in Gyergyóteker patak in Cs k district. He arranged three songs under the title From Gyergyó, for tilinkó [peasant flute] and piano, and the piano transcription of this occasional composition presented to Stefi Geyer as 'Three Hungarian Folksongs from the Cs k District'. In all three versions Bartók retained the rich ornamentation of the flute version, and added a modal accompaniment to the melodies in a church mode. After the first two rubato melodies, notated in alternating time signatures, he concluded with a melody in strict 'giusto' rhythm. It is in this latter that the pentatonic skeletonbeneath the diatonic surface can best be felt. Bartók notated the pentatonic vocal version of this melody on this same field trip, and arranged it in the series 'Eight Hungarian Folksongs'.' (HCD 32524 Bartók New Series Vol. 24, István G. Written for Flute or Violin accompanied by a Piano, Ballad is a piece by Albert Périlhou (1846-1936), dedicated to Paul Taffanel. This piece is one of the most famous by this author and could be chosen as a contest or a recitalwork. Composed in 1903, Ballad is a one-movement piece which begins with a slow part and alternates with an Allegro section. This latter is the section of the main theme which demonstrates the range of the flute with expressiveruns. The melody of the slow part keeps coming back along the piece, which finishes on it. The difficulty of this piece would suit upper-intermediate level players.

Composer's Note: The Lullaby from The Unicorns arose from an opera libretto I commissioned from John Heath-Stubbs (1918-2006) in the late 1960s. In his story two unicorns are discovered in a remote part of Africa. Both the East and West want to obtain them for research so they send out rival expeditions. The Western technique is to lure the unicorn with a young girl singing a lullaby. Both East and West capture unicorns but the mythical animals escape in the end. I never completed the opera but I made a six-movement suite from it called The Unicorns. There are three songs and three instrumental numbers and the first performance was given with Elisabeth Soderstrom and Solna Brass under Lars-Gunnar Bjorklund at Ekensbergskyrkan, Solna, Sweden on 31 October 1982. This version was recorded and my arrangement of the three songs for voice and piano was recorded by Marilyn Hill Smith. The career of the Lullaby continued with a version for clarinet and piano, which I premiered with Jack Brymer aboard the Sea Princess in the Mediterranean on 29 September 1986. The oboe version was for Sarah Francis, and Duke Dobing and I have recorded it for flute an piano. Lullaby can be played with a variety of solo instruments and is also available for piano left hand and piano solo.

To Mediterrane Meditiationer / Two Mediterranean Meditations for Piano solo was composed by Per Nørgård in 1980. Dedicated Ragnhild Toft.
1. Græsk motiv (Greek motif) 2. Medstrømme (Cocurrent) The piano pieces (Two Mediterranean meditations) was inspired by a little town, Isternia, in the Greek island Tinos. During a stay there I was captured by the timeless peace that emitted from the shimmering white sculptured steps, and by the sounds in the narrow streets, creating an atmosphere of balanced activity on the background of a meditative silence. The pianopieces are related to the work “Isternia” (1979, for cimbalon solo, later rewritten for other instruments); the music seems to possess a certain timeless or rather ´genre-less´ character; this is effected through the use of archetypal melodies and meters changed in a rather ´cubistic´ way. In this respect the work is related to my “Sonora” (for flute and harp) and the duet “Medstrøms og modstrøms” (“Cocurrent & countercurrent”) Per Nørgård

The editorial quality of the new edition is guaranteed not only by Schiff's sensitive fingerings and stylistically well-grounded cadenzas, but also by the Mozart scholar Norbert Gertsch to whom Henle has entrusted its urtext editions.Breitkopf/Henle cooperation means: Each work is edited according to predetermined standardized editorial guidelines. First and foremost among the sources consulted were Mozart's handwritten scores, being the most important sources. In some cases they had not been available when the previous editions were being prepared. Moreover, we know today that in addition to Mozart's own manuscripts, early copies in parts and prints also contain important information regarding the musical text. The concertos in A minor and B flat major were first written as violoncello concertos between 1750 and 1753. They thus rank among the very first concertos for solo cello in Germany.

The concertos in A minor, B flat major and A major were first written as violoncello concertos between 1750 and 1753. They thus rank among the very first concertos for solo cello in Germany. The A minor Concerto, composed in 1750, is performed quite frequently today. C. P. E. Bach most likely wrote the Concerto in B flat major Wq. 171 as the last of the little work group in 1753 in Potsdam, at the court of King Frederick the Great. He reworked the composition for flute and harpsichord shortly thereafter. Various sources prove that copies of the work had made it known quite extensively in the second half of the 18th century. In his new Urtext edition, Ulrich Leisinger bases himself on two reliable manuscripts.

This delightful melody from Cantata 208 was originally scored for solo voice, two flutes and continuo. The pastoral subject was played by the flutes in thirds and sixths and it is this melody that has been faithfully retained in this arrangement for piano duet.

Innocence is available for either piano solo or piano and chamber accompaniment (flute, clarinet, first and second violins, viola and cello). It is a good learning tool for aspiring musicians at or above a beginner's level.Technically, the piece contains several tertian harmonies and simple flares of credenza-like complexities. The form is a through composed inspiration that later becomes more refined in terms of symmetry and balance. Less technically described, Innocence was written to demonstrate the differences and the compatibility between traditional and untraditional harmonic development. Students will or should recognize the two different approaches. In the most traditional approach, the listener is typically able to predict how the melody will unfold. It is like a journey down a road where the passengers can see all the straight-aways and turns ahead. Innocence , however, while never discarding or disrespecting musical grammar, is occasionally innocently twisted to hijack the listener into gently surprising and unanticipated turns. It is a good learning tool to point out the different approaches to composition. It is also simply a fun and entertaining piece in and of itself.
