Larry Shackley's creativity shines brightly in this extraordinary arrangement! This classic hymn, set to a rollicking four-hand piano accompaniment, features fun and engaging vocal writing that will invigorate both vocalists and congregation. Mozart's Concerto K. 453 enjoyed great popularity during the composer's lifetime and was widely known through copies and a print. The state of the sources is thus multi-faceted yet unequivocal: the primary source is the rediscovered autograph, which was considered lost after 1945 and was not at the disposal of the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe. The editorial quality of the new edition is guaranteed not only by Schiffs sensitive fingerings and stylistically well-grounded cadenzas, but also by the Mozart scholar Stephan Horner to whom Henle has entrusted its urtext editions. Breitkopf/Henle cooperation means: Each work is edited according to predetermined standardized editorial guidelines. First and foremost among the sources consulted were Mozarts handwritten scores, being the most important sources. In some cases they had not been available when the previous editions were being prepared. Moreover, we know today that in addition to Mozarts own manuscripts, early copies in parts and prints also contain important information regarding the musical text.

Mikko Heiniö's Alla madre (2007) abandons the traditional virtuoso concerto concept: here a large orchestra engages in dialogue with a solo violin. The first movement is called Arrivo, “Arrival: the soloist literally arrives later, and by degrees, playing his/her first two solos offstage. Even then the orchestra continues to take the initiative for a long time. Not until the second movement, entitled Aura, “Air or Wind, does the initiative pass to the solo violin as it sets light to notes in the orchestra harmony like individual lamps. And not until the end of the second movement and the beginning of the third does the solo violin play completely on its own. The title of the first movement, “Arrival, underlines the event, the dramaturgy, whereas that of the second movement, “Aura, alludes to the texture and the shimmering space. The third movement is the most strongly emotional, as the name Carezza, “Caress suggests. This product includes the solo part and the piano reduction (B4 sized). The orchestral material is available from the publisher. Have you ever heard of a bear with wings? Or a biffalo-buffalo-bison? How about a wallaboo? A. A. Milne, best-known as the author of Winnie the Pooh, penned this playful poem about amusing animals, both real and imagined, at a zany zoo. This clever children's choral offers plenty of musical moments (including independent counterlines and logical 2-part harmonies) in between giggles. Perform with a light, bright tone and crisp consonants on the patter-like words. Two likely results: hilarious rehearsals and a roaring crowd!

The Modal Column is a cycle of paired pieces for piano, starting from the classical structure- prelude-fugue - used by Bach in Das wohltemperierte Klavier. The modes that are being used have a relatively simple octavizing structure, hence an almost infinite variety of combinations that can generate a large number of pieces, impossible to exhaust by a composer. Therein lies the idea of a column, in the sense given by Brancusi, i.e. an endless succession of modules.
In the vision of the author, the mechanism of the mode is a secondary (ancillary) aspect, the primary goal is deciphering the ethos incorporated in it.
The prelude-fugue structure hypostatizesthe musical discourse at the two possible extremes. free-constructed. While Romanian music rules in free areas, like any old music with an (especially oral) tradition, the constructed pieces start from Dutch (Flemish) or Venetian polyphony, which precedes the idea of fugue, understood as a technology of the movement (dynamics) of sound, after the models of Giovanni Gabrieli or Ockeghem.
The Modal Column is first of all the presentation of a melodic world but, as the subtitle indicates, also an investigation into the ethos of Romanian music. The forms in which the pieces are thought are simple, non-ostentatious, the whole cycle being in fact a musical workshop, whose better parts may be worth including in ampler works. Before the succinct description of the six couples in Books I and II, a few observations, necessary from a musicological point of view:
