Chopin wrote works for piano and orchestra between 1827 and 1832. They were written successively therefore there are traces of the gradual crystallisation and maturation of the composer's style. Their form and nature are dominated by the rules of the stile brillant, as well as the tendency to accent the national aspect. This work was inspired by Kyllonen's trip to Peru in 1984. In the second part (Adagio) there are reflections of the starry sky seen at the Andies 3000 metres above the sea level. In the closing part (Allegro assai) the source of inspiration was the fervent dance rhythm heard by an Indian player at the Machu Picchu.
