“Four Studies was written for Angela and Jennifer Chun in 2014. Each movement has a drone which lasts for the duration of the movement. The first bar of movements 1 and 4 can be quite long. The drone should remain loosely indifferent to the other part, avoiding any overly-dramatic commentary. That having been said, the droning player should feel free to subtly and constantly change the nature of the sound. Rests are meant to be played freely, expanding and contracting as the spirit moves the soloists, but the notes should be played in relatively even time. The space between the movements can work either with very short pauses or with no pauses at all; this is left up to the discretion of the performers.” – Nico MuhlyApproximately 12 minutes.

One of EMB s most successful composers and publishers, And-rás Soós, has devoted his latest volume to a special instrumental ensemble: three violins. No original works appear in it, in this collection, which aims at variety, we find transcriptions of choral works and piano and guitar pieces, etc. from the 14th to the 19th century. The main consideration in selecting the works was that the score should offer young violinists real chamber music, that is, if possible three equally important parts should share in the music-making.Für ein spezielles Instrumentalensemble, drei Violinen, stellte einer unserer erfolgreichsten Komponisten-Herausgeber, András Soós, seinen neuesten Band zusammen. At the request of the Editio Musica Budapest, Endre Szervánszky has undertaken this task in 1971. His arrangements, which we are bringing out in two volumes, offer valuable material both to violin teaching and group music-making. Béla Bartók plante im Jahre 1939 die Bearbeitung seiner Chöre (für gleiche Stimmen) für zwei, bzw. drei Violinen. Sein früher Tod verhinderte jedoch dieses Vorhaben. Im Auftrag der Editio Musica Budapest löste Endre Szervánszky diese Ausgabe.
