Needless to say, Stop/Go is an exciting excursion into the very hip mind of Bill Holman. The chart requires soprano saxophone on the lead part. As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, 'Berlin Bei Nacht' is the 4th movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. Set in an up-tempo fashion, this Oliver Nelson's 1971 forward-thinking original starts out with an in-your-face swing unison line played by the saxophones and the trumpets, with the trombones and rhythm section providing the undercurrent. It then moves into a half-time Latin feel before settling into a funk/rock blues solo section (trumpet, or as you choose). This exciting and unique arrangement will be a favorite for your band and audiences alike! 5-4-4-3 (opt. 5th trombone).

As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, 'Heidi' is the 3rd movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. A gorgeous solo feature for alto saxophone throughout, this piece builds from a quiet beginning to a very powerful point (a 'Bolero' type of tension as the piece develops) before it diminishes to a quiet ending. This 'edited' version is in a lower key, has a shorter solo section and simpler brass ranges, making it more playable for both the soloist and the ensemble while still maintaining the integrity of Oliver's beautiful ballad. 5-4-4-3.
