The continued collaboration between director Tim Burton and film score composer Danny Elgman has led to numerous unforgettable soundtracks, such as Beetlejuice and Mars Attacks! as well as Batman. Elfman’s music captures the vivid dark undertones of the movie, and manages to maintain comic elements. Batman is such a popular character that even the likes of pop-star Prince contributed to the sound track with the song Batdance. Toshihiko Sahashi creates a brilliant medley with The Batman Theme, Batdance, and Party Man.Aus der Zusammenarbeit von Regisseur Tim Burton und Filmmusikkomponist Danny Elfman sind schon etliche großartige Soundtracks entstanden, wie z. Alan Turing is considered the father of modern computational science and much, if not all, of our modern computer technology and the connectivity that we now take for granted is born of the work of this one great, but troubled man. His famous test was designed to prove whether artificial intelligence (AI) could successfully imitate human thought. The single movement of The Turing Test is essentially non-programmatic, but it does seek to show something of the emotion and colour of Turing’s life in its different sections. The composer employs bi-tonality and complex rhythms to show opposing worlds colliding. At the end of each test, we must decide: has true AI beenborn? In The Essence of Youth the composer gives an insight into childhood and youth — inspired by his own daughter. The opening of sparking rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature paint a vivid picture of the unpredictability of children. The first and second movements recount the love — and also tension and the worries — in the adult-child bond, through dissonant harmonies but also pretty melodies. The fugue-like ending leads to a final splendid chorale: a picture of proud parents with their child! In The Essence of Youth geeft de componist zijn visie op de kindertijd en de jeugd. Zijn eigen dochter vormde hierbij een belangrijke inspiratiebron. De opening staat met opgewekte ritmes, dynamische contrasten en maatsoortwisselingen voor de spontaniteit van kinderen. Het eerste en tweede deel vertellen over de liefde, zorg en toewijding die horen bij een ouder-kindrelatie. Met dissonante harmonieën, maar ook met mooie melodieën weet de componist dit prachtig te verbeelden. Een fuga leidt ten slotte naar een prachtig koraal: de trotse ouders met hun kind verbeeldend. Der erste und zweite Satz erzählen mit dissonanten Harmonien, aber auch mit schönen Melodien von Spannungen, Liebe und Sorge in der Eltern-Kind-Beziehung. Den Schluss bildet eine Fuge, die zu einem prachtvollen Choral fu hrt: ein Bild stolzer Eltern mit ihrem Kind!Cette composition reflète ce que le compositeur considère comme les caractéristiques typiques de la jeunesse : une mélodie éclatante pleine de rythmes vifs, des contrastes dynamiques et des changements de tempi qui se combinent pour symboliser l’énergie débordante des enfants, ainsi que la tension entre parents et enfant. Un passage lyrique exprime l’amour parental par des lignes mélodiques très subtiles. Les notes s’égrènent, le charme opère ! The Essence of Youth è un brano che riflette ciò che il compositore, ispirato da sua figlia, considera come le caratteristiche tipiche della gioventù. Un’ouverture spettacolare nella quale contrasti dinamici e dai ritmi vivaci si susseguono come a simboleggiare la straordinaria energia dei bambini. Il primo movimento, sulla scia dell’introduzione, anticipa una parte di solo che accompagna al secondo movimento, testimonianza dell’amore infinito dei genitori nei confronti dei figli. Una fuga basata sul tema iniziale contraddistingue il terzo movimento che conduce all’apoteosi finale.

Samson takes inspiration from a well-known biblical character from the Old Testament. In its form, it refers to the style of the great 19thCentury symphonic poems. The piece expresses different aspects of the main character, resulting in atechnical, expressive, colourful and impressive test piece, composed for the European Brass Band Championships.Samson is ge nspireerd op het gelijknamige Bijbelse personage uit het Oude Testament. Qua vorm grijpt de compositie terug op de stijl van de grote 19e-eeuwse symfonische gedichten. Verschillende aspecten van de hoofdrolspeler worden verklankt,met als resultaat een technisch uitdagend, expressief, kleurrijk en indrukwekkend verplicht werk voor de Europese Brassband Kampioenschappen.Samson ist von dem gleichnamigen biblischen Charakter aus dem Alten Testament inspiriert. Vom formalen Aufbau her erinnert das Werk an den Stil der sinfonischen Dichtungen des 19. Jahrhunderts. Es stellt verschiedene Aspekte des Protagonistendar und ist ein technisch anspruchsvolles, ausdruckvolles, lebendiges und beeindruckendes Prüfungsstück, das für die European Brass Band Championships“ komponiert wurde.Samson s’inspire d’un personnage bien connu de l’Ancien Testament. L’œuvre est organisée l’image des grands poèmes symphoniques pour orchestre du XIXème siècle. Elle exprime différents aspects du personnage principal, ce qui aboutit en uneœuvre imposée technique, expressive, colorée et impressionnante, composée pour les Championnats Européens de Brass Band.

Vivat Mozart werd als thema met variaties gecomponeerd. Als uitgangspunt gebruikte Kees Schoonenbeek het openingsthema van Mozarts pianoconcert KV 503. Daarover ontwikkelde hij veelzijdige muzikale ideeën, van de originelestijl tot aan de blues voerend. Het gaat hier om een typische Mozart-melodie: natuurlijk, direct, bijna volksliedachtig en heel expressief.Vivat Mozart wurde als Thema mit Variationen komponiert. Ausgangspunkt war das Eingangsthema des dritten Satzes aus Mozarts Klavierkonzert in C (KV 503). Daraus wurden sehr vielseitige musikalische Ideen, die vom volksliedartigen Stil der Originalmelodie bis hin zum Blues führen, entwickelt. Vivat Mozart setzt sich auf vergnügliche Weise mit der Musik eines großen Meisters auseinander und eignet sich ausgezeichnet dazu, diesen Ihren jungen Musikern nahe zu bringen.En associant son talent de compositeur sa grande créativité, Kees Schoonenbeek a créé Vivat Mozart, une œuvre délicate et fluide en forme de variations sur le Concerto pour piano KV 503 du génie de Salzbourg, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Which of us does not have them, memories? Everyone sometimes remembers things from the past, be they happy memories or not. Sometimes, a scent may remind us of a particular place, or a tune may bring back memories of a certain situation. John DeBee experienced something similar when he heard a song on the radio: he immediately picked up his pen and composed ‘Flashback’. It has become a piece that appeals to the ear, which will provide both the musicians performing it and their audience with pleasant memories.Wie heeft ze niet, herinneringen? Iedereen denkt wel eens terug aan leuke of minder leuke dingen die gebeurd zijn. Soms kan een geur je terug doen denken aan een bepaalde plek of een muziekje een situatie in je geest terugroepen.John DeBee had zo’n ervaring toen hij op de radio een liedje hoorde, pakte zijn pen en componeerde ‘Flashback’. Het is een prettig in het gehoor liggend stuk geworden waarbij zowel de muzikanten als het publiek goede herinneringzullen hebben of krijgen.

In this composition William Vean takes you on a journey through the fascinating and exciting world of animals. Apart from it being a composition filled with special effects, Animal Kingdom contains many educational elements, such as playing inswing (triplets feeling), chromatics, flutter tonguing, gypsy tuning, varying keys, and, of course, dynamics and articulation. The melodic lines occur in all four voices, as well as in all percussion parts, providing each musician with theopportunity to play a solo or to accompany. Highly recommended for your youth band! William Vean is an educational composer. He knows how to musically shape the special elements from our daily lives. His music is therefore veryexpressive, containing creative solutions to possible problems. Special ways of playing make his music particularly interesting for the winds, but the percussion section is also featured in his special effects. The world of the animalsalways plays on ones imagination. In Animal Kingdom, William Vean has portrayed a number of animals in a special manner: Kevin Kangaroo - The jumping character of this animal can be heard in different voices. The swing style alsoemphasizes the characteristic movements of the kangaroo. Playing in swing style can be practised by using scales. Eddy Elephant - For some of his smaller fellow fauna friends this can be quite an ordeal, but for Eduard (Eddy for friendsand intimates) it is his daily walk. Baldrick Bat - Baldrick the Bat is a mysterious character. This can be heard in the fast moving valves and keys, accompanied by special effects in the percussion section. Curtis Camel - Curtisthe Camel trudges across the desert, feeling bored. The idea that the horizon will never change does not affect him anymore. He has accepted his fate. The distinctive tones from the gypsy scale provide the suitable oriental sounds. BettyButterfly - Butterfly Betty elegantly, and without worries, flutters from flower to flower in the garden. Her motto: Carpe Diem (Seize the Day). Betty is a one-day butterfly. Marvin Monkey - A swing monkey stirs up the feelings. Evenmembers of the orchestra will look like real monkeys. How about your audience? Each part has its own difficulties and challenges. Important in the first part is playing in swing (triplets feeling). This can be practised usingscales. In the second part ensemble playing and balance are important. In Baldrick additional information on the effects that have to be played might be useful. New sounds are, of course, welcome. Curtis the Camel introduces thegypsy scale. Additional explanation of the use of the scale might be useful. Key changes are interesting in this part. A slight accent on the first beat of the bar will add to the charm of this part. Marvin the Monkey brings back the swingrhythm that was introduced in the first part, alternated by a straight part with attention to chromatics and articulation. A story teller will definitely be an asset when performing this composition.William Vean neemt u mee in de fascinerende en verrassende wereld van het dierenrijk. Naast leuke speelmuziek vol ''special effects'', is deze compositie zeer educatief van opzet. Als interessant inhoudelijke zaken komenonder andere aan de orde - het in swing spelen (triolen feeling), chromatiek, flatterzunge, zigeunertoonsoort, afwisselende maatsoorten en natuurlijk dynamiek en articulatie. Tevens lopen de melodielijnen zowel door alle 4 destemmen als alle percussie partijen, zodat iedere muzikant de gelegenheid krijgt om te soleren dan wel te begeleiden. Een aanrader voor uw jeugdorkest! De dierenwereld spreekt muzikaal gezien altijd tot de verbeelding.William Vean heeft op bijzondere wijze een aantal dieren neergezet. De componist weet op een bijzondere wijze elementen uit het dagelijkse leven muzikaal vorm te geven. Zijn muziek is daarom erg beeldend, de problemen aanwijsbaarmaar de oplossingen zijn creatief. Voor blazers bijzonder interessant door de bijzondere speelmanieren maar het slagwerk is ook bedeeld met een aantal 'special effects'. Kevin Kangaroo - Het springerige karakterwordt door verschillende stemmen neergezet. De swingende speelstijl benadrukt de karakteristieke bewegingen van de kangoeroe. Let op de specifieke swingstijl. Heel goed te oefenen met toonladders. Eddy Elephant - Voor sommigekleinere faunagenoten elke keer weer een beproeving maar voor Eduard (Eddy voor vrienden en intimi) is dit zijn dagelijkse wandelingetje. Giro 224544 t.b.v. de geleden schade. Baldrick Bat - De vleermuis Baldrick is eenmysterieus type. Dat mysterieuze aspect wordt auditief weergegeven door het snel indrukken van ventielen en kleppen, ondersteund door slagwerkeffecten. Curtis Camel - De kameel Curtis hobbelt verveeld door de woestijn.

The traditional concert march Liberty, was composed in 2004 for the brass band Euphonia from Wolvega, the Netherlands. Your band will feel truly liberated with this lively composition. Liberty is gecomponeerd in een traditionele marsvorm. Het eerste deel bevat naast een beweeglijk thema een aansprekende bassolo. Na de bassolo komt het eerste thema weer naar voren en wordt, na een krachtige afsluiting, hettrio ingeleid. Een lange, lyrische melodie in de tenorgroep laat vervolgens het publiek even achteroverleunen en genieten. Ze wordt echter bruusk onderbroken door een wilde fortissimopassage, gekenmerkt door een lange toonladderdie door het hele orkest heen loopt. Deze mondt uit in een welluidend Grandioso met een herhaling van de lyrische melodie, omspeeld in de discant, waarmee Liberty besluit.In Liberty wird ein lebhaftes Thema im ersten Teil von einem anspruchsvollen Solo für den Bass und die gesamte Brass Band abgelöst. Nach dem Trio mit einer ausgesprochen lyrischen Melodie und heftigen Fortissimo-Passagen beendet ein reizvolles Grandioso dieses Stück, das in traditioneller Marschform geschrieben, aber alles andere als gewöhnlich ist. Liberty est une marche contrastante de forme traditionnelle. La première partie développe un thème pétillant qui se fond dans un solo de basse solidement charpenté. Le trio, plus lyrique, expose quelques nouvelles idées formant un contraste marqué avec le passage d’ouverture. La musique s’enflamme pour un énoncé en fortissimo qui chemine travers l’ensemble de l’orchestre puis cède sa place un thème Grandioso, dernier épisode de l’œuvre.

Alpina Brass was the test piece for the first division of the Fêtes Cantonales on 8 and 9 June 2019 in Naters, Switzerland. It consists of three movements, and features a variety of aspects, as is common for a competitionwork. However, as a whole, it has been written in such a way that it can perfectly serve as a concert work as well. It is a challenging piece for every section and offers colourful and melodic as well as spectacular rhythmicsequences and a most impressive ending!Alpina Brass was het verplichte werk voor de eerste divisie van de Fêtes Cantonales op 8 en 9 juni 2019 in het Zwitserse Naters. Het is drieledig van vorm en er komen allerlei aspecten in aan bod, zoals dat voor eenconcourswerk gebruikelijk is. Het is echter zodanig geschreven dat het ook prima als concertwerk kan fungeren. Deze compositie bevat uitdagingen voor alles secties, evenals kleurrijke en melodische maar ook spectaculaireritmische opeenvolgingen en een indrukwekkend slotgedeelte! Alpina Brass war das Prüfungsstück für die erste Division beim Kantonalen Musikfest am 8. und 9. Juni 2019 in Naters (Schweiz). Es besteht aus drei Sätzen und zeichnet sich durch verschiedenste Aspekte aus, wie es beiWettbewerbsstücken üblich ist. Insgesamt ist es jedoch so geschrieben, dass es sich auch bestens als Konzertstück eignet. Das Stück ist für alle Instrumentengruppen anspruchsvoll und bietet lebendige, melodische, aber auchspektakuläre rhythmische Sequenzen sowie einen beindruckenden Schluss! Alpina Brass est l’œuvre imposée pour la première division des Fêtes Cantonales des 8 et 9 juin 2019 Naters, Suisse. Elle comprend trois mouvements, et inclut une multitude d’éléments différents, typiques pour une œuvrede concours. It is interesting to recall that Handel wrote Messiah, his most famous work whilst at the lowest point of his career, suffereing from fianantial hardship and depression. It was only composing that distracted him from this misery. In He Shall Feed His Flock,based on texts of Isaiah and Matthew, we hear praise for the peace that the Messiah has brought to earth.
