This arrangement is an energetic march that provides a spirited setting for the familiar bell melodies of the season. The main tunes featured are Carol of the Bells, I Heard the Bells and Jingle Bells, but you will also hear several other tunes woven into the music.

‘Christmas Colours’ is a palette consisting of several Christmas songs.
Bruce Fraser has mainly used the colours green (the colour of holly) and white (the colour of snow).
This composition begins with the chiming of festive bells - if you listen well, however, you can already hear short fragments from 'The Holly and the Ivy', whose entire melody is finally played, alternated with 'The Sussex Carol'. After this, the pace slows down and the stately 'See amid the Winter Snow' sounds, but parts from 'Jingle Bells' and 'Silent Night' can also be heard.
Then, after walking under 'The Holly and the Ivy' once again, the celebration of Christmas may begin!

Christmas Colours is een potpourri met allemaal verschillende kerstliedjes.
Bruce Fraser gebruikt vooral de kleuren groen van de 'holly' (hulst) en wit van de 'snow' (sneeuw).
Het werkje begint met feestelijke klokjes waar,als u goed luistert, fragmentjes van 'The Holly and the Ivy' tussendoor klinken. Uiteindelijk klinkt de hele melodie, afgewisseld met 'The Sussex Carol'.
Na de tempovertaging klinkt het statige 'See amid the winter snow',met fragmenten van 'Jingle Bells' en 'Silent Night'.
Tenslotte lopen we nog één keer onder 'The Holly and the Ivy' door en kan het Kerstfeest beginnen.

Yo-ho, It's Christmas Time could be just a cry from the mouth of Santa Claus.
David Well used this as the title for this three-part composition. First the very familiar Jingle Bells in a relaxed style, followed by the sensitive Negro spiritual Mary Had a Baby.. Finally hear We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Yo-ho, it's Christmas Time' zou zomaar een kreet uit de mond van de kerstman kunnen zijn.
David Well gebruikte het als titel voor dit driedelige werkje.
Als eerste klinkt het zeer bekende 'Jingle Bells', in een relaxte stijl,gevolgd door de gevoelige negro spiritual 'Mary had a Baby'. Als laatste klinkt 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'.
Dit deel begint met het bekende refrein. Hierna volgt het couplet én refrein in een gevarieerde maatsoort.Na het opvoeren van het tempo klinkt het refrein nog één keer in vliegende vaart.

Roland Kernen schrieb eine Reihe Variationen über den bekannten Choral Es ist ein Ros’ ensprungen von Michael Praetorius, die zusammen das großartige Werk Christmas Variations bilden. Nach einer reizvollen, sehr schnellen Eröffnung wird der Choral auf verschiedene Weisen präsentiert: zuerst fröhlich, dann feierlich. Nach einem kurzen Zwischenspiel folgt der Schluss, in dem der Choral zwei Mal in all seiner Pracht Revue passiert.

Le célèbre choral Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen (D’un arbre séculaire) a été écrit par le compositeur allemand Michael Praetorius (1571-1621). Christmas Variations de Roland Kernen est une suite de variations sur ce choral.
