This fantasy tells the story of Oregon, one of Americas north-western states. Traveling by train on the Northern Pacific Railroad, the listener is taken through the fascinating Oregon landscape. Indians, cowboys, golddiggers and hooded wagons willfile past on this adventurous journey. The piece has some similarities with a soundtrack of a movie. Various melodies, which could be the main themes of a movie, pass the review.The piece begins in a slow movement, introducing the first theme inminor. Then we hear in the following fast movement the trombones imitate the train, whistling the steam-flute. We hear the characteristic minor theme again, but now in different variants(also in major). The rythmic structure of western stile androck succeed each other. This is leading to the slow movement, where the signals of horns and trumpets introduce a wonderful vocal melody. After this characteristic melody, the fast movement appears shortly again, the trombones whistling thesteam-flute again (now in major). We hear also some musical elements, that plays a part in the following Presto. Barchanges, jazzy chords, interesting rhytmic patterns (with bongo) and an original theme are the characteristics of this Presto. Afterthis, the horns announce the last section of the piece. Interesting is the fact that we hear in this Allegro section a variant of the vocal melody in the slow movement. Also the Presto theme returns shortly, followed by the Allargando, which is agrand characteristic end of a soundtrack. The movie of our travelling fantasy has come to an end.

Deze fantasie vertelt het verhaal van Oregon, een van de noordwestelijke staten van Amerika. Een treinreis over de Northern Pacific Railroad voert de luisteraar mee door het boeiende landschap van Oregon. Tijdens deze avontuurlijke reis isdromen over een ver verleden onvermijdelijk. Indianen, cowboys, goudzoekers en huifkarren met paarden ervoor passeren hierbij de revue. Het werk heeft overeenkomsten met de soundtrack van een film.

In Oregon entführt Sie Jacob de Haan auf eine abenteuerliche Zugfahrt durch die faszinierende Landschaft einer der nordwestlichen Staaten Amerikas. Ein langsames Thema in Moll, gepaart mit Variationen in Western- und Rockrhythmen undmelodiösen Passagen sind nur einige der Elemente, die diese Reise so spannend und abwechslungsreich gestalten.

Salute to the Victor is in traditional march form and contains, as a tribute to Victor Grieve who was a devotee of English music (in particular that of Sir Edward Elgar), a short quote from Elgar’s Sea Pictures in the trio. Salute to the Victor was commissioned by Helen, Alex and James Grieve for the Golden Kangaroos (Hornsby Concert Band) from Sydney, Australia, in memory of their parents, Louise and Victor Grieve, Founder and Director.

The Golden Pass is a rail line in the Swiss Alps that connects Montreux, located by Lake Geneva, to Lucerne, in central Switzerland. This composition echoes the thoughts and feelings of a passenger who watches the changing landscapes he observes on this journey: green meadows full of grazing cows and traditional chalets, beautiful mountain lakes, waterfalls and mountain tops, including the scenic Brüning Pass. Is this real or just a dream? We may never know!

De Golden Pass verwijst naar een prachtige reis per trein die vanuit Montreux aan het meer van Genève door de Zwitserse Alpen voert naar Luzern in Centraal-Zwitserland. Als een echo weerklinken de gevoelens van een passagier. Vol verrukking slaat hij het afwisselende landschap gade tijdens de reis: grazende koeien op sappige groene weides, traditionele chalets, fantastische bergmeren, watervallen en indrukwekkende bergtoppen, waaronder de Brüningpass. Cette composition fait écho aux états d’ me d’un passager, admirant la diversité du paysage lors de son périple : les vertes prairies, les chalets pittoresques, les magnifiques lacs de montagne, les cascades et les sommets alpins. Est-ce réel ou s’agit-il d’un rêve ? Difficile de savoir...

La linea ferroviaria Golden Pass collega Montreux a Lucerna via Chateau-d’Oex, Gstaad e Interlaken. Un viaggio di 5 ore su vagoni panoramici attraverso i paesaggi più pittoreschi della Svizzera. Questa composizione fa eco allo stato d’animo di un passeggero che ammira la diversit del paesaggio: i vigneti a terrazza del lago di Ginevra, le distese di pascoli e foreste dell’Alto Gruyère, gli splendidi chalets del Saanenland, i laghi e le montagne. Si tratta di un sogno o della realt ? Difficile a dirsi….

The atmosphere of the Wild West is caught in a striking and most imaginative way by young composer Andreas Schulte in this work.
A caravan of gold- and fortuneseekers launch themselves into a big adventure and begin their rush westward.

The first movement desciribes these first days of buoyancy and optimism in a crisp march.
Near the campfire the pioneers rest themselves, and the music expresses feelings of romance, nostalgia for the past and hopes for the future.
A wistful melody very characteristically communicates these feelings.
Relaxation takes place in the third movement which is a musical characterization of a rodeo and its attendant festivities.
It is obvious that sometimes something goes wrong and this aspect can also be heard.
Nevertheless, the valiant rider wins in the end.
With a flashback to the beginning, the journey is completed musically, thus giving the composition a dignified finale.

Let the mystic Wild West entrance you. (Wagons ho ....!!) De sfeer van het Wilde Westen wordt door de jonge componist Andreas Ludwig Schulte op een uiterst treffende en beeldende wijze geschetst.
Een karavaan van goud- en gelukzoekers stort zich in het grote avontuur en begint de grote reis naar het westen.

Het eerste gedeelte beschrijft de eerste dagen van opgewektheid en optimisme in een vlotte mars.
Bij het kampvuur komen de pioniers tot rust en worden gevoelens van romantiek, heimwee (verleden) en hoop (toekomst) muzikaal weergegeven.
Een weemoedige melodie verwoordt die gevoelens op een zeer kenmerkende wijze.
De ontspanning vindt plaats in het derde deel waarin een rodeofeest muzikaal wordt verklankt.
Met een flashback van het begin wordt de tocht voltooid en de compositie waardig afgesloten.

Conquest Of Paradise is the title song from the film of the same name staring Gérard Dépardieu as the explorer Christopher Columbus, on his quest to discover America. The title music to the film, composed by Vangelis, was released as a single, which sold over 4 million copies and was rightfully awarded a Golden Globe. Add a little drama to any concert with this stirring arrangement.

Conquest of Paradise werd geschreven voor de film 1492. De Griekse muzikant en componist Vangelis is bij het grote publiek vooral bekend vanwege zijn soundtrack voor de film Chariots of Fire en zijn sucsesvolleVoices. Deze hero sche muziek, in een arangement van Ron Sebregts, brengt de stemming er beslist in!

Die Rockhymne Conquest of Paradise von Vangelis wurde zunächst als das Lied bekannt, das Henry Maskes letzten Boxkampf begleitete. Nun hat sie aber längst auch die Fußballwelt für sich erobert. Die heroische Musik zaubert auch in Ron Sebregts Blasorchester-Bearbeitung 100 Prozent Stadionstimmung herbei!

Pour célébrer les 500 ans de la découverte de l'Amérique, Ridley Scott réalisa 1492, Christophe Colomb avec Gérard Depardieu dans le rôle-titre. La musique fut confiée Vangelis, compositeur grec de renommée internationale, connu du grand public pour les bandes originales des films Les Chariots de Feu et Blade Runner, entre autres. Habité par le sujet, Vangelis réalise une bande son exceptionnelle mêlant composantes électroniques et mélodiques avec une texture ethnique et chorale. L'ensemble des lignes harmoniques trouve son apogée dans le sublime Conquest Of Paradise ( la conquête du Paradis), une ode magnifique la découverte et la liberté.
