The first comprehensive resource of its kind, Gloriosi contains a treasure trove of ritual music that bridges linguistic, cultural, and musical differences for the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. Weaving together familiar tunes and ancient chants with newly-composed pieces, Tony Alonso has meticulously crafted the music of Gloriosi to inspire the participation of a diverse assembly during these celebrations at the heart of the liturgical year. In addition to settings of all of the ritual texts found in the Roman Missal / Misal Romano for the Three Days, this collection contains settings of every prescribed psalm drawn from texts approved for liturgical use in English and in Spanish. English, Greek, Latin. Text Source: Revised Order of Mass 2010, Lectionary for Mass
From a simple, joyful Gospel Acclamation based on the tune LAMBILLOTTE (Alleluia, Song of the Spirit) comes this full Mass setting where all the sung portions are based on that tune. While featuring a driving, rhythmic piano part, there is also an alternate accompaniment with more intentional melodic support that is suitable for organ. Optional instrumental parts are intended for trumpet and flute but may be played by any combination of C or B-flat treble instruments. With the joyful exuberance of the tune at its core, this Mass setting is especially well-suited to Easter and Ordinary Time.

Based on “Ritorni al nostro cor la bella pace” from Salustia by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736), “O Sing This Festive Day!” is a majestic opening number for school programs or church services. Incorporating optional hand drum and trumpet (parts are included in the choral), it is also a good supplement for music history studies. “O Sing This Festive Day!” gives singers an excellent taste of Baroque music without being difficult to learn.

Majestic and exuberant, this quintessential concert/contest selection opens and closes with an accented Latin text theme. In the middle, a contrasting chant-like Resonet in laudibus softens and slows before returning to the rhythmic feel. As expected from experienced writer, Victor Johnson, each voicing is sensitive to appropriate vocal ranges and tessitura. An optional trumpet fanfare is included in the octavo.
