Sing a new song, Cantate Dominum, are the words that begin this energetic and celebratory piece. The opening section in 7/8 absolutely dances and thankfully returns for a joyous conclusion. The middle section poetically brings in the beauty of creation. This SATB voicing can be sung together with the SSA voicing, P1715. A great festival piece that can also be sung in worship.

Joe Duddell's Magnificat and Nunc Dimtis was commissioned by Presteigne Festival of Music and the Arts with funding from Kevin Jones and Laura Woodside-Jones and received its first performance by the Choir of Royal Holloway conducted by Rupert Gough at the 2011 Presteigne Festival. Duddell has acknowledged in the past that whilst composing any piece of music, problems arise that require solutions and this new setting of the Mag and Nunc is no different. The main challenge for a composer who is openly agnostic is the historical weight behind the liturgical text but taking both musical and philosophical inspiration from composers such as Holst and Tippett, Duddell's setting is a joyous and uplifting one. The work is dedicated to George Vass.

Light and celebratory, this joyous anthem uses rhythmic, ostinato-like vocal lines to support the melodic theme. A sustained middle section provides contrast, capturing the majesty and mystery of God. Time signature changes and interesting harmonic writing make this a good challenege for more advanced choirs. Jo-Michael Scheibe Choral Series. Recording by the Nidaros Cathedral Choir, Vivianne Sydnes, conductor.

A text by Lisa M. Clark set for SATB and piano by Jeffrey Blersch. The text was inspired by the parable of the dishonest manager (Luke 16:1 - 13) and will help Christians wrestle with the concepts of living in a broken world to make an eternal difference. The music presents a warm melodic setting of the text, and each choral part gets to sing the melody.
Look with eyes that see forever,Faithful to the Lord's design.Work within the world, but neverChoose its call o'er things divine.Nothing on this earth can sever You from love that will refine,You from love that will refine.
Serve with hands that toil unceasing,Diligent in great and small. With the Kingdom's realm increasing,Rob the devil's lair of all.Joyous souls, their bonds releasing,Sing their rescue from the fall,Sing their rescue from the fall.
Love with hearts that will not waverUnderneath the fearsome fight.Show the weary Jesus' favor, Won to make creation right. By all means, bring all to savorMercies rich and glories bright,Mercies rich and glories bright.

A beautiful short setting of the ordinary of the Latin mass (Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus & Benedictus, and Agnus Dei) by emerging Cornishcomposer Becky McGlade. The Kyrie finds beauty in its simplicity, which is later echoed in the Agnus Dei. The sumptuous parallel harmony and natural melodies create an atmosphere of penitent sorrow, so central to both texts. The Gloria offers something more joyous and upbeat, yet not straying from the cleverly constructed harmony and voice leading. The emotional climax comes with the Sanctus & Benedictus, which begins with the warm texture of the full choir, and through the gentle dissonances and soaring soprano line the composer conveys something of the holiness and glory of God. Ideal for choirs looking to expand their liturgical music repertoire with a manageable but impressive new mass setting. Also appropriate for concert use.
