According to statements by the composer, the Missa sacra is suitable for both worship services, as well as for concerts, and at the same time it is not difficult to perform. The expressive harmonies, precise use of counterpoint and its concise themes show that the Missa sacra is a highly romantic work which belongs among the great masterpieces of 19th century sacred music. Following a performance in 1861 Clara Schumann wrote to Johannes Brahms: The Kyrie is deeply moving, and as if cast from one mold; in the Sanctus individual movements had such a wonderful sonorous effect that chills ran down my spine. For the present edition Zsigmond Szathmary has made a new arrangement for organ of the original orchestra accompaniment. Additional editions in the Series Choir & Organ.

Dona nobis pacem and Lux aeterna were both written for concert programs devoted to specific themes. They share the use of the techniques of minimalism in their organ parts, enabling the broad vocal lines in the choral voices to stretch out above this instrument, thus imparting a special aspect to the concerns addressed by the texts: the longing for freedom in the here and now, as expressed in the Dona nobis pacem, as well as the desire for peace and tranquillity in the Lux aeterna. Score available separately - see item CA.751600.

Jesus made an astounding claim in Luke 4. When He proclaimed that He was the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy, it was more than a resume of credentials; it was a mission statement. In fact, it was a commitment - to you and to me - that there would be a place where sinners can find mercy; the afflicted can find healing; the broken can find compassion, and the outcast can find dignity. Behold the cross of Christ...it is the place where love and mercy meet. This profound spiritual theme is movingly captured by veteran arranger Marty Parks in Where Love & Mercy Meet, the latest offering from Simply Word Easter. Combining popular songs by Michael W. Smith, Bill and Gloria Gaither, and Darlene Zschech and Reuben Morgan with beloved classics, this musical features engaging worship sequences with easy-to-learn SATB choral parts and arrangements for one male and one female solos (with optional men/women unison), making it ideal for smaller choirs or those with limited rehearsal time. A well-designed accompaniment DVD is available to enhance your production, as well as an optional small-cast dramatic script by Kim Messer that will bring the themes of the musical into a powerful contemporary focus. This Easter, invite your congregation and community to come to the place where love and mercy meet - the cross of Jesus Christ.

This sturdy hymn-tune (encompassing only a major sixth in the best singing range of most congregations) is set with a flourish. The organ introduction, key-change and coda make it perfect for a grand recessional hymn. The new text is Eucharistic in nature and has a strongsending forth to serve Christ theme (also very useful for Bread for the World Sunday). The optional brass quartet, flute, and timpani dress the hymn for special occasions including Church Anniversaries, Ecumenical Services, Hymn Festivals, or any occasion stressing the Family of God and Thanksgiving.

Though intended for Communion, each setting has its own theme, making them suitable at other times—whether in praise of the risen Christ, as a song to answer Christ’s invitation to the banquet, or when we gather in his name and then go forth to share his life with the world. While scored for SATB voices, the settings are versatile enough for use by cantor and assembly or by smaller, unison choirs. The accompaniments work well on organ, piano, or guitar. Contents: Alleluia, Alleluia, Praise the Risen Son!, Happy Are All Who Are Called to the Feast and Where Two or More Have Come.
