I composed Sing with Me during the summer of 2020 as my own personal response to the relentless series of heartaches that we faced: the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the anguish of not being able to sing together and the rise of social justice crises across the country. It is the first piece for which I have also written the text. At the time, I was unsure of what the fall semester would look like for my own choir. Would we be in person? If so, for how long? Therefore, I designed the piece to be accessible and adaptable to whatever situation we faced. It is my wish that the message of hope and unity will resonate with all who sing or hear it.Sing with me, as I sing with you,Let the music revive us anew;Yearning for beautiful harmony,Come and sing with me. All the world is longing for peace,For all meaningless hatred to cease;Joining together, your hand in mine,Let our voices shine! Dream with us, together as one,For the day when the battle is done;Fervently striving for unity,Come and dream with me.Come and sing with me. .

Selected verses of Psalm 119 are set for SSATB voices and organ. Unexpectedly, the music is rhythmic and angular, yet still lyrical. This piece would be a memorable one for any accomplished ensemble. The organ part is a non-stop tour de force and requires a very capable player. The choral parts are also a bit challenging in spots. The combined effect is worth it and we think your choir and your listeners will acclaim the results.

Make Ye Merry uses an anonymous 15th century text with both Latin and English in a joyous, dancelike setting. Mr. Jones has contrasted both the joy and the mystery of Christ's birth in music that is by turns lyric and playful. The ecstatic joy of the Alleluia peals forth brilliantly in this work. There is the rhythmic underpinning that comes from the oldest traditions of the carol while the harmony and vocal lines are more contempory in sound. The organ part is challenging and colorful in style. Make Ye Merry would make a superb finale to any carol concert.

Where would we be without the goodness and love of the Lord? Where would we be without Christ’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross? Hallelujah for the Cross is a powerful new song, made popular by Chris McClarney, that reminds us of the mercy, glory, and power of the cross…the cross that broke our prison chains and paid our ransom. Arranged by Luke Gambill and orchestrated by Cliff Duren, this anthem will become a new favorite for your choir and congregation.

In 1734 Handel provided the pasticcio “ Oreste †for his third operatic enterprise which, following the bankruptcy of the Royal Academy and its successor academy, felt threatened by competition from the newly-founded Opera of the Nobility. Hence, the composer did not compile the work from favourite movements from his own and other composer's pieces as was usual at that time; rather in “ Oreste †he presented a selection of the most beautiful arias and ensembles exclusively from his own operas. In addition, he expanded the ballet and choral scenes which he thought would make a great impact after the move into the newly built Covent Garden Theatre. As most of the singers in his Italian company had been enticed away by the competition, Handel increasingly began to engage English virtuosi. He probably even worked on the new version of the libretto himself in order to place the new stars in the limelight to the best effect. The new vocal score is based on Volume 1 of the Supplement to Series II of the “Halle Handel†Edition edited by Bernd Baselt .

Christoph Willibald Gluck’s most popular opera “Orphe et Euridice†was performed in 1774 in Paris to sensational success. This new adaption followed the original Viennese version with Italian text that was first performed in 1762 under the direction of the composer in the Burgtheater. For the Paris version Gluck changed the leading part Orpheus from an alto to a tenor role and composed new recitatives. Both versions of Gluck’s reform drama are based on a libretto by Ranieri de’ Calzabigi and revolutionised metastasian opera of the 18th century. Solo and choral music, instrumental music, pantomime and dance are all closely connected; the myth replaces a historical plot surrounded by intrigue; where there would have been a da-capo aria there are now simple song forms and coloratura is largely abandoned. These meticulously revised vocal scores of both versions are also newly set.

William Shakespeare's famous sonnet ('Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments'), often used at weddings and civilceremonies, is here set to beautiful, fresh music by young composer Ed Rex. The mostly homophonic setting employs the composer's distinctive close harmonies, which, together with short phrases and natural rhythm, serve to add greater meaning to the poignant andmoving text. Spells of parallel and contrary motion in the inner parts are intended in some way to reflect important elements of thecommitment two people make to each other in marriage or partnership. Sonnet 116 is sure to add an unforgettable moment to a happy couple's special day, and would also be an excellent addition to concerts using a theme of love.

For many of us, Christmas is a time of joy and celebration, a time to be spent with family and friends…a festive, happy time. But for others, the same holiday season only serves to underscore the loneliness, pain, and hopelessness of their own lives. In our story, Susanna King’s bright spirit and love for life overrides her circumstances; you see, Susanna has been recently diagnosed with cancer. But in spite of bad news and challenging times, she lives with the joy of Christmas in her heart. This is an emotion-filled story, rich with heart. It comes alive with great new songs that are sometimes powerful, sometimes celebratory, sometimes poignant; sometimes happy, sometimes sad; songs that propel the story along while speaking to our hearts with the love language of God’s Christmas story…the birth of our Savior, Jesus. Designed to bring your music and drama ministries together, Shepherds and Kings proclaims a strong, vibrant message about the power of love—our love for one another, our love for God, and most importantly, God’s desire that ALL would come to know of His great love for us. Share the hope and good news of Christmas with your church and community this year, through your presentation of Shepherds and Kings.

Jesus made an astounding claim in Luke 4. When He proclaimed that He was the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy, it was more than a resume of credentials; it was a mission statement. In fact, it was a commitment - to you and to me - that there would be a place where sinners can find mercy; the afflicted can find healing; the broken can find compassion, and the outcast can find dignity. Behold the cross of Christ...it is the place where love and mercy meet. This profound spiritual theme is movingly captured by veteran arranger Marty Parks in Where Love & Mercy Meet, the latest offering from Simply Word Easter. Combining popular songs by Michael W. Smith, Bill and Gloria Gaither, and Darlene Zschech and Reuben Morgan with beloved classics, this musical features engaging worship sequences with easy-to-learn SATB choral parts and arrangements for one male and one female solos (with optional men/women unison), making it ideal for smaller choirs or those with limited rehearsal time. A well-designed accompaniment DVD is available to enhance your production, as well as an optional small-cast dramatic script by Kim Messer that will bring the themes of the musical into a powerful contemporary focus. This Easter, invite your congregation and community to come to the place where love and mercy meet - the cross of Jesus Christ.

Handel’s “Deidamia†was premièred on 10 January 1741 only a few weeks after “Imeneoâ€.The librettist Paoli Rolli , a previously unsucessful librettist for Handel, delivered with his finest work “Deidamiaâ€. On 10 February 1741 the third and final opera performances of this work took place under Handel’s direction. Oddly enough “Deidamia†would not be performed again until the beginning of the 20th century. This opera is based on the themes of humour and seriousness. The personal harmonising of Heroism (Achilles) and Love ( Deidamia ) build on the essential dramatic features of this work. “Deidamia†is the last great opera in a series of masterpieces: “Orlandoâ€, “Poroâ€, “Ezioâ€, “Ariodanteâ€, “Alcinaâ€, “Serse†and “Imeneoâ€. The vocal score is based on the Urtext of the Halle Handel Editon.

This work is a setting of Psalm 80 (Restore Us, O God) as paraphrased in 1673 by John Milton. The text is used frequently in the season of Advent (on the First Sunday), or would also be appropriate for Good Shepherd Sunday in the Season of Easter. The majestic work was commissioned for performance on a day when new tapestries and paraments were dedicated for use in a parish and the music is knit together with a commanding viola part (with alternates for violin or cello). The instrumental part is available as a free PDF download from the Zimbel website (http://www.zimbel.com/). 20 pages Published by: Zimbel Press Minimum order quantity: 8 copies. A joyous arrangement on a 17th century German tune. Verses alternate use of congregation and choir and there are Baroque ritornello-like interludes. Choir and instrumental parts are only moderately difficult and this would be an excellent choice for a festival service.
