Twelve choir and piano movements for the Christmas season: classics such as Jingle Bells and Silent Night, as well as unknown international Christmas carols. The individual arrangements can be used flexibly; they work in three-part mixed, but also in one or two voices, with piano accompaniment or a cappella. At the same time, the individual pieces are designed so differently that they are suitable for joint use in concert. With modern and popular harmony and varied rhythm, this Christmas collection is ideal for young choirs.

In the Geistliches Lied op. 30 for four-part mixed choir and organ (or piano for three to four hands), Johannes Brahms sets a text by the Baroque poet Paul Fleming (1609-1640) to music. Although the piece was composed in April 1856, it only premiered as late as July 1865 in the church of St. Jakobi in Chemnitz. This is probably due to changes that were proposed by Joseph Joachim. In February 1864, Brahms sent it together with Op. 29 to Breitkopf & Hartel where it was published in July 1864. The subtitle in brackets in the autograph ,,Doppel-Canon in der None (,,Double canon in the ninth) was not printed on it, although it closely captures the essence of this composition of about three minutes.

In this vocal quartet for four female voices and piano, Schubert sets a text from the odes of Ewald Christian von Kleist to music, the first four stanzas of his 17-stanza poem hymn. According to tradition, Schubert had written it for the singer Anna Frohlich. It was first performed on 8 March 1827 in the Vienna Musical Society and published posthumously as op. 133 in 1839.
