âAL 30 754 - MILA AND THE SHIP TREE - Choral Partitur For decades the French composer Isabelle Aboulker has been very successful with vocal works for children and young people, in whom well-known fairy tales are processed. Now she has once again met with Mila and the Schiffbaum, a work commissioned by the Académie musicale by Villecroze in the course of the project ââ3 composers write for the schoolââ, and by the French music publishers with the music prize 2015 in the category ââ Works for young performers ââ. With this composition, Isabelle Aboulker has created a musical story for narrator, children's choir and instrumental accompaniment, which helps children between five and eight years in educational and valuable ways to gain first experiences with music theater and choral singing. Thanks to an excellent German translation, the successful work can now also be found in the German-speaking world. With the deep sensitivity and subtlety that is the secret of her art, Isabelle Aboulker tells of a little girl who succeeds in getting over the loss of a loved one, namely, his grandfather. The highly charming melodies of this piece, written for unanimous children's choir, are joined by an instrumental accompaniment in which tender melancholy and subtle humor alternate - this musical language comes directly from the heart. AL 30 753 - version for speaker, children's choir and piano (German and French text) The work is also available in English translation: AL 30 732 - version for speaker, children's choir and piano (French and English text) AL 30 743 - Choral Partitur (French and English text) As well as with other instrumental accompaniments: AL 30 733 - version for speaker, children's choir and trio (clarinet in B, cello and piano) (French and English text) AL 30 734 - version for spokesman, children's choir and instrumental ensemble (French, English, German, French, Italian, Italianandrdquo.

In this vocal quartet for four female voices and piano, Schubert sets a text from the odes of Ewald Christian von Kleist to music, the first four stanzas of his 17-stanza poem hymn. According to tradition, Schubert had written it for the singer Anna Frohlich. It was first performed on 8 March 1827 in the Vienna Musical Society and published posthumously as op. 133 in 1839.

There are still works from Mendelssohns later years which are unknown or have yet to be published. This little spiritual Festgesang was quite possibly tossed off by the composer in only one day. It was commissioned for the benefit of the poor in Schwaz, a little town in Tyrol. Scholars have noted with a certain amazement that the music of the Festgesang was to play a key role in the Lobgesang, written shortly thereafter.

Motets (BWV 118, 225-231) account for a rather small work group within the great number of sacred vocal works composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Only six motets have survived; their most striking feature being their mostly double-chorus texture, often without a verifiable instrumental or continuo accompaniment. They were presumably written at the beginning of Bach's time in Leipzig, i.e. after 1723.The present work, Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, is one of only two motets by Bach in which the entire text comes from the Bible, in this case the two verses of Psalm 117.Performance editions of all other sacred vocal works by Johann Sebastian Bach are also available at Breitkopf & Hartel.

This Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy anthology contains 19 sacred vocal works in various choral and sometimes additional solo settings, with organ, harpsichord, or basso continuo accompaniment. Among these pieces composed from 1821 to 1847 are six works that were not published during Mendelssohn's lifetime. Seven of the works presented are each extant in at least one other authorized version that has also been edited here. The occasions and circumstances of their composition vary as much as their musical structures and characteristics: Several were intended for specific performances; others were written from the outset for publication.

The poem “Lift Every Voice and Sing†was written by acclaimed African American poet James Weldon Johnson in 1900 and set to music byhis brother John Rosamond Johnson in 1905. The Edward B. Marks Music Company first published the song in 1921, which remains strongly associated with social justice and patriotism, particularly in African American communities. While at one time it could be found pasted to the back of some hymnals used in African American Churches, today the song is formally printed under headings such as national song or social justice in many modern hymnals. Other versions include a concert setting published in 1978 for SATB chorus and piano by Roland Carter, a setting by Hale Smith for SATB chorus and orchestra also dating from the 70s, and a modern R&B recorded version released in 1990 featuring Dione Warwick, Stevie Wonder and Take 6.
