I wanted to do a fun Latin version of the Christmas favorite Deck the Hall. When I realized Fa-La-La rhymed with Cha-Cha-Cha, I knew that was the kick off point for the arrangement! Now sing and dance your way through this fun song. (How often do you get to sing a Cha-Cha?!).

Over the past few years, as I have experienced the radical cultural transformation of Roman Catholic communities in the United States, I decided that I wanted to create something in response and support. Mass of Creation went through multiple revisions—into a Protestant version, a revised (2010) text version and a bilingual version. At each transition, the music struggled (I believe) to make the text “sing†as it had with the original version. With the Mass of Reconciliation / Misa de Reconciliación, I began with the premise that the text would be created to be sung throughout either in English or Spanish. My hope was that faith communities that had Masses in both languages might learn the mass setting in their own language and, when they came together for major feast days (Christmas Eve/Day, Easter Vigil/Day, and other celebrations) they could each sing with confidence and passion a setting in their own language.
