The words for this are an ancient prayer from the Southwestern United States. They speak of the earth as a sacred and holy place that is worthy of our love and respect. The prayer challenges us, as temporary residents of the land, to be diligent stewards on behalf of our children. And as we have come to expect, Mark's choral writing is intricate and rewarding.

This is Christmas uses mixed voices (SAB), a non-singing Readers' Chorus (half low, half high voices), Piano, Optional Children's Chorus and Optional violin. The violin (flute) part needs to be ordered separately (#09118). Separate pieces from the cantata which are also available separately are Is This the One (#01095) and Sleep Little Jesus(#00616). The cantata asks the question, What is Christmas? and then tells what it is really about. Songs included in the cantata are: This is Christmas In Little Town of Bethlehem Sleep Little Jesus How Beautiful, How Fair When Love Came Down Is This the One? God's Abounding Love Song of Praise The arrangement of Is This the One? is different in the cantata from the octavo copy.
