Published by Gentry Publications (HL.292925). UPC: 888680932879. 6.75x10.5x0.029 inches. Abraham Lincoln/Daniel McDavitt. Daniel McDavitt has composed an exquisite trilogy using texts from three American greats: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Abraham Lincoln, and William Wordsworth. Although they can be performed individually, they are most powerful as a set, each with flute obbligato. The first ââ¬Åmemoryââ¬Â from Emerson is about music, and is joyful and buoyant. The second ââ¬Åmemoryââ¬Â is from Lincoln, and is more reflective about childhood. The final ââ¬Åmemoryââ¬Â by Wordsworth combines the thoughts of the previous two in a mature understanding. A delightful trilogy for high school choirs. $2.45 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3106955). ISBN 9790007186388. Language: German/English. Bach's Cantata BWV 69a of 1723, which has remained largely unknown to the present day, is now available for the first time in a practical edition with this Carus publication. It has been unjustly neglected as it was overshadowed by the Cantata BWV 69 of the same name, a piece which Bach reworked to celebrate the inauguration of Leipzig Town Council in 1748. On that occasion Bach re-used the parts from 1723 for simplicity, and adapted them for the new use by means of cuts, alterations, and additions - something which certainly did not mean that he rejected the 1723 version. This version can readily be recovered from the parts of 1723, if we explore beyond the alterations of 1748. With its rich wind instruments and great opening chorus, the 1723 cantata is in no way inferior to the later festive music in terms of musical splendor. The text takes the Gospel reading about the healing of the deaf and dumb man as a reason for praise and thanks for God's good deeds. In contrast to the later version, in which God is thanked for the wisdom of the Leipzig authorities, the original version of 1723 is free of such contemporary references, and is suitable for use in worship and concerts in many different ways. Score available separately - see item CA.3106900. $6.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

To celebrate 25 years of excellence and promotion of new concert works, the New York Virtuoso Singers commissioned 25 contemporary composers for 25 new choral works, all of which now appear on their recording, 25 X 25: Twenty-Five Premieres for Twenty-Five Years. Among the 25 is Richard Wernick's The Devil's Game. Here, Wernick uses The Devil's Verse, a Latin palindrome that still puzzles us today as to its meaning, and appropriately embraces repetitive use of the verse in a musical palindrome of his own. The text is a palindrome (in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni), a rather mysterious one called The Devil’s Verse. Its origin is vague (probably Roman, but possibly Medieval) and it does not surrender its meaning easily; many scholars have fussed over it. It is a riddle as well as a palindrome, in other words a puzzle within a puzzle. My preferred translation, without going into the niceties of Latin grammar, is “We enter the circle at night and are consumed by fire.â€This music is also a palindrome, the outer parts of which are homophonic, while the turning around point in the center (where the basses enter for the first time) is a brief double canon. $2.50 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

SATB choir, piano accompaniment - Early intermediate SKU: GI.WW1723 Composed by Susan LaBarr. Church, Concert, School. Andrew Crane Choral Series. Classical. Octavo. 12 pages. Walton Music #WW1723. Published by Walton Music (GI.WW1723). UPC: 785147015062. English. Text by Daniel Elder. Midwinter Song is a Christmas carol that calls us to love, faith, and hope. With a beautiful and supportive piano accompaniment and accessible vocal lines, this work will appeal to a wide variety of levels. Susan Labarr's Midwinter Song is a new work for Advent or Christmas. Labarr opens the piece with a gentle piano solo that perfectly captures the mystery of the poetry—the words seem to travel out of a time in the deep past and give homage to the neglected art of both rhythm and rhyme. In particular, the description of the world gathering in amber halls in the first verse wonderfully conjures images of medieval casltes or mead halls lit only with firelight and candles, full with the sound of carols. Published by Alfred Music (AP.48830). UPC: 038081561547. Lat. The title provides an important timestamp for an unprecedented year. Veteran choral composer Jay Althouse constructed this very special work in remembrance of lives lost during the pandemic. His setting of the traditional Latin text is built upon a melody inspired by nature: Near the end of my walk that day, I heard a bird singing three notes over and over again. I came home and began writing. The bird's song is the first three notes of the opening melody. Solemn, prayerful, and poignant. About Alfred Choral Designs The Alfred Choral Designs Series provides student and adult choirs with a variety of secular choral music that is useful, practical, educationally appropriate, and a pleasure to sing. To that end, the Choral Designs series features original works, folk song settings, spiritual arrangements, choral masterworks, and holiday selections suitable for use in concerts, festivals, and contests. $2.05 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
