This new mass setting includes Duncan’s highly favored through-composed Gloria of the same name, and it does not disappoint. Beautiful in their simplicity, the congregational melodies of the Alleluia and eucharistic acclamations can be complemented by an optional soprano descant and B-flat or C trumpet part. The penitential act, Gloria, and Lamb of God also include SATB choral writing. Overall, this mass setting is bright, joyful, and uplifting. It will truly inspire your singing assembly.

Viktor Ullmann composed his choral arrangements of Hebrew, Yiddish and Chassidic songs in the ghetto of Theresienstadt in 1943/1944. In the function of 'Head of the Studio for New Music', Ullmann made a significant contribution to the so-called 'leisure activities' in the ghetto. The works were evidently intended for the repertoire of the various choirs at Theresienstadt, including children's choirs such as the Karel Vrbas Youth Choir in which Ullmann's son Max also sang. There is no evidence to confirm that Ullmann's choral works were actually performed in Theresienstadt, for example in one of the frequent concerts given by Rafael Schachter's choir of up to a hundred voices (cf. Milan Kuna, Musik an der Grenze des Lebens, 21998. p.313). The German translations below first appeared in the song book Makkabi-Liederbuch published in Berlin in 1930 (2nd edition 1935) which was available to Viktor Ullmann as a source for the melodies and text orthography for his choral arrangements in Theresienstadt.

Anthony Giamanco sets a text by Mennonite poet Adam M. L. Tice in this expressive SATB anthem with lyrical melodies and jazz-inflected harmonies. The text speaks of Christ's grace-filled blessings to us even when we stray. Particularly appropriate for Reformation and confirmation services but useful throughout the year when the call of Christ or the gift of grace, freely given, is highlighted.

During Mendelssohns years of study with Zelter, the arrangement of chorales already played an important role, and he continued to be occupied with the protestant chorale throughout his symphonic and oratorical work. The break Bach's works in connection with the reperformance of the St. Matthew Passion led to a series of cantatas based on well-known chorale melodies for choir, instruments, and sometimes also for soloists. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.4018600.

Kevin Memley's music is known for its beautiful melodies, captivating harmonies and originality. Initially published for TTBB, this a cappella piece for mixed voices is a prayer of gratitude and praise. The alleluias that soar between the verses are gentle yet stunning. The general nature of the text will enable this piece to work in both church and school, high school and older.
