Scripture: Psalms 127.
In the Nowakowsky manuscripts, many examples can be found of the Psalm texts set for Cantor, various soloists, choir, violin, cello and organ. These psalms were cantata-like in form with varying musical sections depicting the text. Psalm 127 is divided into 5 parts which uses vestiges of the Lutheran chorale, juxtaposed with the influence of the Jewish modes. Duration 6:40.

Contains four pieces: 1. Fifty-Second Street Swing, 2. Remembering Billie, 3. On the Road, 4. Take Five. The following is a remembrance by the composer: Under the picture in my high school yearbook it said, Silence is golden. Lost my diploma on the way home from graduation but I knew what I wanted to be: A Big Band Pianist. Started hanging out in Manhattan on Fifty Second Street. There were seven jazz clubs in one block, between Sixth and Seventh. Couldnt drink at seventeen, so just nursed cokes at a dollar each. My salary was twenty a week. Sat by the great Art Tatum, the incredible blind pianist. My teacher accompanied Billie at the Onyx. Later, Dizzy and Bird appeared on the scene. This wonderful year passed, and I swapped my piano for a rifle. The Marines had plans for me. Where would I find a piano? Would I still be able to play? But, find them I did: in the States and even on some Pacific Islands. Sometimes you could even recognize what you were playing. Sometimes, had to kick someone off the bench. I told Kim Rich, the poet, my stories and somehow she made these wonderful lyrics with just a few phone conversations. Hey! Im immortal!!!

Both of the Kyrie settings in E flat major K. 322 (1778/79) and C major K. 323 (probably not prior to 1790) belong to those works by Mozart which were only handed down as incomplete draft scores. However, in both cases Mozart's original drafts were so extensive and well advanced that Abbe Maximilian Stadler, Mozart's friend and known from the history associated with the Requiem, could complete both settings. In 1830, for the first edition of the Kyrie K. 323 Stadler employed the text of the Marian Antiphon for Easter Regina coeli laetare for the vocal parts. The Carus edition presents both the original text (Kyrie), as well as the text from the first edition (Regina coeli), so that the work may be performed in the Mass or in the context of a solemn Vespers during the time of Easter. With his Latin St. John Passion, written around 1770, Scarlatti strictly follows the contemporary conventions advanced for the Catholic liturgy: the continuo-supported evangelist's report is presented throughout as a monolodic recitation that is reminiscent of Carissimi and Monteverdi. Only for the words of Christ and the few four-voice choruses, as well as for some significant moments like the Judas scene or the death of Jesus, is a subtle string accompaniment added. An alternate German text is printed below the original Latin. Score and part available separately - see item CA.1000700.
