Lord George Gordon Byron, described as mad, bad and dangerous to know, is one of the greatest British poets. He was known for his brilliant use of the English language, as well as his flamboyant lifestyle and romantic escapades. Scholars believe that Byron wrote She Walks in Beauty in 1814 when he met his cousin, Mrs. John Wilmont. It is an innocent poem, with seemingly only admiration of the subjects outer physical beauty and inner peace. Byron feels that the persons beauty is a perfect union of dark and light. The cloudless night is filled with soft starlight. She exudes a captivating purity, almost an expression of the divine. This is arguably Lord Byrons best known poem.  . | St. Paul (Paulus) Choral SATB - Intermediate Barenreiter
SATB choir (Mixed choir (SATB)) - Level 3 SKU: BA.BA09071-91 Composed by ...(+)
SATB choir (Mixed choir (SATB)) - Level 3 SKU: BA.BA09071-91 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Edited by John Michael Cooper. This edition: urtext edition. Paperback. Barenreiter Urtext. Choral score. Opus 36. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA09071_91. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA09071-91). ISBN 9790006565467. 27 x 19 cm inches. Text Language: German, English. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy completed his first oratorio - St. Paul , op. 36 - in 1836, at the age of twenty-seven.
The first version, which was premiered on 22 May 1836, was then extensively revised by the composer. This second version, which at the same time served as the basis for the published version, was premiered as early as October that year in Birmingham . The acclaim with which the oratorio was received was exceptional. Within eighteen months of completing the score, Mendelssohn was able to list fifty performances of the work. Robert Schumann praised the work effusively and even Richard Wagner, who later denigrated Mendelssohn, was full of admiration. Today, St. Paul belongs to the core repertoire of sacred choral music.
This Urtext edition of the oratorio, edited by the internationally-recognised Mendelssohn scholar Michael Cooper is based on all critical sources. As well as the principal version of the work, the score also includes for the first time numbers which were composed for the first version and subsequently removed. This gives not only an insight into the history of the composition of the work, but also, with the complete performing material, into the performance of the original version. The appendices (first version) which appear in the full score and vocal score are not contained in this choral score.
The full score and vocal score include the German and English texts of the oratorio.
The vocal score is by Mendelssohn.

SATB choir, divisi, piano reduction - Late intermediate SKU: GI.G-9035 Co...(+)
SATB choir, divisi, piano reduction - Late intermediate SKU: GI.G-9035 Composed by Thomas LaVoy. Joy, Creation. Evoking Sound. Music Education. Octavo. 24 pages. GIA Publications #9035. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-9035). UPC: 785147903505. English. Text Source: Stream of Life, verse 69 from Gitanjali, 1912. Text by Rabindranath Tagore. I have recently been incredibly inspired by the writings of the great Bengali mystic Rabindranath Tagore, whose monumental collection of poetry Gitanjali won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. This book introduces the reader to a new awareness of the world that surrounds us, deepening the connection between nature and the human spirit that we all yearn for. Verse 69 is particularly joyful and life-affirming: an ecstatic realization of the energies that move in ceaseless ebb and flow through us, our lives, and our natural environment. Each individual line of this verse has a unique character and color, so I have placed each in a key that I feel suits the mood of the text. The constantly flowing ostinati that weave their way throughout are collectively a musical representation of the “stream of life†to which Tagore refers. This flowing line can be found even in the subdued third line of text, which makes reference to the “ocean-cradle of birth and of death.†In similar fashion, the more complex rhythmic cells found within the stream (e.g., measures 21–40) are a product of Tagore’s ecstatic tone. Ultimately this piece is simply meant to be an expression of joy. It is dedicated with great admiration to the commissioning ensemble, the Fort Myers High School Greenwave Singers, and their conductor Matt Koller. This tremendous ensemble is a prime example of choral music education in practice in the United States, and I feel honored to have been given this opportunity to work with them. —Thomas LaVoy. $2.90 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks | | |

Orchestra SSATTB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, 2 violins, viola, cello, double bass SKU: CA.2730105 Composed by Franz Lachner. Requiem In F-Moll. Sacred vocal music, Requiem. Choral Score. Composed 1856. Op. 146. Duration 60 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.301/05. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2730105). ISBN 9790007115210. Key: F minor. Language: Latin. In 1856, the year in which Mozart's one-hundredth birthday was elaborately celebrated, Franz Lachner composed the Requiem in F minor op. 146. It became his most well-known and most important work. Lachner's intensive study of Mozart's music on the occasion of the commemorative year lends credence to that fact that it was not inspired by a personal loss, such as a death in the family or among his friends. Although closer examination proves that his music differed essentially from Mozart's, Lachner's work shows a clear expression of his admiration for him. The parallels between the two Requiems range from the characteristics of the organization of the text and the formal structure, to the similar treatment of individual sections, themes and motives.
