Haydn wrote the Missa Sancti Nicolai in 1772, probably for the name day of prince Nicolaus Esterhazy. This work is on a larger scale than the other missae breves, and in the orchestra two oboes and two horns join the strings. At the very beginning of the Kyrie the gentle, pastoral character which distinguishes this work is established. Haydn reprises the music of the Kyrie in the Dona nobis pacem to round off the work. The Missa romana is a mass setting in Latin. With a duration of c. 10 minutes, and a moderate level of difficulty, it is intended for performance in Catholic services. It combines jazzy chords and Latin American rhythms with quotations from the Gregorian Missa de Angelis, which is currently used in many parishes and is popular to sing. The aim is to portray the Latin American dance rhythms authentically and with infectious energy for the listening congregation. This can certainly be achieved through a performance with at leaset a percussion group which is able to exploit the variety of Latin American percussion instruments. The band could also include a double bass and, as harmony instrument, guitar and/or keyboard. The dance rhythms given serve as a guide to rhythm and tempo, and the chordal accompaniment should be improvised using the chord symbols. As performance with band won't always be possible, the Missa romana is written so that it can also be performed a cappella or with organ accompaniment.

The Choral Collection Psalms contains over 50 settings for mixed unaccompanied choir from six centuries. The Choral Collection Psalms displays the whole stylistic and linguistic variety ranging from contemplative, simple Anglican chant through Russian Orthodox homophony to virtuoso motets with jazzy echoes. The linguistic spectrum is equally broad: English, French, German (some with added singable English translation), Estonian, Icelandic and, of course, Latin psalm settings are represented, as well as works in Church Slavonic and Hebrew (both accompanied by transliterations and a singable German text). The foreword (German / English) offers many hints regarding the performance of the psalm settings, and a detailed index will help with choosing appropriate pieces for the liturgical occasion according to the Anglican, Protestant, or Catholic calendar. Over the last ten years editor Stefan Schuck has performed two psalm compositions every week in his NoonSong series in Berlin.
