From the composer: Written as a statement of support for, and allyship with, our Black brothers and sisters (as well as all people of color). Too often, in any aspect of life, we explain away other people’s experiences instead of seeking to understand experiences that differ from our own; we’re so busy talking about our own viewpoints that we fail to listen to the voices we most need to hear. I asked Tony Silvestri to write a text that could function as a personal statement from me to people I need to listen to—especially to my friends of color. This the text that resulted—words that speak powerfully for any situation where we need to listen to those who have been marginalized or mistreated, not heard or believed. For SATB or SSAA choir with piano and optional guitar.

O Radix Jesse by Polish composer Pawe ukaszewski , is arranged here for unaccompanied SSAA Chorus with divisions. Pawe ukaszewski is part of a younger generation of Polish composers who specialise in sacred and choral music. After studying composition and receiving two Ph.Ds, ukaszewski 's work has been performed throughout Europe and the rest of the world. This composition, O Radix Jesse is a setting of the Magnificant antiphons used in Christian advent and Catholic Mass. The haunting harmonies created by the unaccompanied chorus in this composition are sure to remain with audiences for a long time, having been intricately crafted by this master ofspiritual music. Please note that the lyrics are in Latin. David Lindley, in the September 2015 issue of the Organists' Review, writes that ukaszewski's music is often compared to that of Gorecki, Part and John Tavener, and this piece manifests the family resemblance..

The aged Simeon takes the new-born Jesus in his arms, recognises his significance and celebrates this moment in a paean of praise as the fulfilment of his life. In Matsushita's motet this song of praise, the nunc dimittis, stands at the centre of the composition. Here, the triad of C-F sharp-G, used for the word hodie - today at the beginning, symbolically combines with a Gregorian-like motif, revolving around the central note of B flat in whole-tone movement, and which is used to represent the Virgin Mary. The work ends with a mystical wash of sound, a whole-tone cluster which emerges from the aleatorically repeated basic motifs of the work, and fades away to nothing.

James Weldon Johnson.
Winner of Honorable Mention in the 2020 King's Singers New Music Prize, Marianne Forman's sparkling music sets James Weldon Johnson's text about singing through adversity: ...and if the way grows darker still, shadowed by Sorrow's somber wing, with glad defiance in my throat, I pierce the darkness with a note, and sing..., ...no nights are dark, no days are long, while in my heart there swells a song, and I can sing. Deeply encouraging, and suitable for a variety of performance situations, especially as choirs work through the events of 2020. Also available for SATB.

Georg Kreisler - that's sharp, profoundly dark humor! The Singphoniker have arranged Georg Kreisler's most famous songs for male ensemble and recorded on CD. The corresponding sheet music edition for female choir SSAA with piano accompaniment was published by Schott Music (Georg Kreisler - Lieder und Chansons, ED22736). In addition to this, individual editions of all songs from the sheet music album are available: Pigeons poison in the park brings the relationship between pigeon and human to the point and proposes a funny described, if not ethically correct approach against the pigeon terror. This appealing arrangement with Kreisler's humorous lyrics guarantees a livelyatmosphere in the concert.

Heinrich Poos is not the first composer inspired by Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock's poem 'Die Auferstehung', as even Gustav Mahler had already used these verses in the fifth movement of his Second Symphony 'Auferstehung'. Mahler was inspired to use a choral movement at the end of his symphony at the funeral of the conductor Hans von Bulow where a choir sang a chorale based on said text by Klopstock. Heinrich Poos wrote his deeply moving choral piece in remembrance of the organist Hubert Schoonbrodt.
