This supple and mellifluous setting seems to grow from plainchant--its largely stepwise motion grows naturally out of text accents, and individual sections are singled out now and then, for variety in texture. This deceptively simple piece is intelligent and lovely. SSAA a cappella; duration: 2’00; range: a-g; difficulty: medium. SSAA, a cappella Published by: Treble Clef Music Minimum order quantity: 8 copies.

Langston Hughes' poem is set for choir and piano exceptionally well by composer Anthony Bernarducci. The composer says, â??When beginning to set this short yet powerful poem, it became clear to me that each stanza had its own character contributing to the overall message.â? For this reason, he set the music in a similar fashion. Each stanza has its own musical independence, but also deliberate 'connective tissue' to join the sections together. The text speaks a message of the strength of inner power. While the choir introduces the text, the cello plays a melody similar to the opening vocal solo meant to portray that our strength is always within us even in the moments of darkness. Masterfully written, this piece will be an impactful addition to your concert programming.

Georg Kreisler - that's sharp, profoundly dark humor! The Singphoniker have arranged Georg Kreisler's most famous songs for male ensemble and recorded on CD. The corresponding sheet music edition for female choir SSAA with piano accompaniment was published by Schott Music (Georg Kreisler - Lieder und Chansons, ED22736). In addition to this, individual editions of all songs from the sheet music album are available: Why are people so cowardly? After social criticism resignation follows. Kreisler's otherwise humoristically critical style leads to the simple question: Why? He asks about the cause of sloth, docility and social adaptation. The demand for breaking out of this lethargy, which is rather halfhearted, concludes the work.

A special and unusual take on the idea of spring. The driving piano part captures the energy and wonder of the new beginnings of the season. Excellent vocal writing that is simple in its construction but complex in its sound.
